Accessing VDI statistics in zoom
Furthermore, if you have the VDI Client, you are also able to view VDI statistics within the VDI tab of the meeting, in addition to seeing meeting and phone statistics during a meeting. When a remote connection is detected, that is when the VDI tab is displayed, starting with release 5.10.0.
There are several types of diagnostic information that can be viewed in VDI statistics, such as hardware or performance information, the status of your VDI connection, whether a terminal is using a proxy setting, and the level of encryption for an ICA channel. It is also possible to determine if your VDI environment is experiencing network problems by looking at VDI statistics.

How to access VDI statistics in the Zoom desktop client
A VDI tab will only appear if the remote client has been detected as having a compatible VDI plugin installed and enabled.
The Zoom meeting client does not appear to have a VDI tab when you are using VDI with Zoom. If you are using Zoom for VDI, make sure that you are using a VDI plugin that is installed on your remote client. There must be an equal or lesser version of the plugin than the version of the client associated with the VDI meeting. A minimum version of the VDI plugin may also be specified in group policies as a requirement for the VDI plugin to be installed. You can get assistance from your local help desk if you need it.
You can find more information about how to access VDI statistics in Zoom’s desktop client in this Support article about how to access VDI statistics in Zoom.
Available statistics for VDI
We recommend that you review our system requirements for recommended specifications for your system
- Thin Client OS version: The version of the thin client OS is displayed.
- Plugin CPU: This plugin’s CPU clock speed, as well as its number of cores, can both be found here. There is a bar that shows the percentage of Zoom’s CPU bandwidth over the overall CPU bandwidth as compared with Zoom’s CPU bandwidth.
- Plugin Memory: You can find out how much memory your plugin has by checking the memory tab. As you can see in the bars below, Zoom’s amount of memory use is displayed in comparison to the overall amount of memory used by Zoom.
- VDI Plugin Version: It displays the version number of the VDI plugin that is currently installed on your computer.
-
Identifies potential errors with VDI connections and displays them on the screen.
VDI Plugin Status: The VDI connection status is displayed in this window.
- VDI Connection Error: Identifies potential errors with VDI connections and displays them on the screen.
- VDI Connect Mode: ICA channel encryption level and the port by which the UDP bridge connection is able to establish the connection are displayed here.

Zoom Phone VDI statistics
If the user is connected to a virtual desktop through a VDI Plugin, the following two fields in the Phone tab are used to provide some information about how the user is connected to the virtual desktop.
-
VDI Connection Status: This displays the status of the connectivity between the remote VDI plugin and the virtual desktop that is connected to it.
-
Media Mode: If you are making a Zoom Phone call, this is the media mode you will be using.
Display VDI Plugin Status for error conditions
There is an attempt to optimize the client over the virtual channel when the client detects a remote connection (Citrix, VMware, or WVD) and displays the Statistics view of the VDI tab when it detects a remote connection (Citrix, VMware, or WVD). As long as a remote connection is not detected, the VDI client will operate in the same manner as a normal client if no remote connection is detected. Even if the VDI Client reverts to fallback mode, it will display the current state of optimization for the VDI Client as well as the status of the connection attempt on the VDI tab. The VDI plugin’s state can be viewed in this way, which allows users to view additional information about the plugin’s current state if necessary.
VDI Connection Error Status
There is a line under the VDI Plugin Status line that displays potential VDI connection errors. This line is located beneath the VDI connection error line in the VDI tab.
VDI Connection Error Status values
Depending on the status condition displayed for the VDI Connection Error status line, there are four possible outcomes:
- Dash indication: When there was no error detected, use a dash to indicate that there was no error
- Plugin missing
- Plugin version less than required
- Plugin version greater than client
Dash indication
If there are no errors detected, the VDI Connection Error status will display a dash for the same reason that is displayed for other UI instances where a dash is displayed. A dash indicator appears when the VDI Plugin Status line indicates that the plugin is connected.
No plugin detected
It is possible that the connection over the virtual channel may fail if no response is received from the VDI plugin, which will lead to the VDI Connection Error line displaying the Plugin Missing message.
Plugin is less than minimum version
VDI Connection Error will be displayed if successful connections are made to the VDI plugin, but the version of the VDI plugin is less than the registry minimum version (currently, Registry MinPluginVersion). The VDI Connection Error will display Plugin version less than Required when a successful connection is made to the VDI plugin.
Plugin is greater than client version
In the event that the connection attempt to the VDI plugin is successful, but the version of the VDI plugin is greater than the version of the VDI client, the VDI Connection Error will display Plugin version greater than Client version.
-
An example of a use case in which the VDI plugin is greater than the client version is as follows:
Plugin _ Client.jpg|width=796,height=658!
VDI plugin version changes
As long as the VDI Plugin Status line is set to Not Connected, the value of the VDI plugin version will still be displayed on the screen. Only when the VDI plugin is not connected to the VDI server will the version of the VDI plugin not be displayed. When that use case is selected, a dash will appear.
