Adding phone dial-in contacts in zoom App
Admins and account owners may create a list of phone dial-in contacts whose names will appear in the participants list (instead of their telephone numbers) when those contacts dial into a Zoom meeting. Guest participants will appear as:
Adding a contact can be done manually or by importing a CSV file containing several names and phone numbers.
Note: Zoom must enable this feature on your account.
Prerequisites
- Account owner or admin privileges
- Host of meeting must have dial-in numbers for participants to join by phone
Adding a phone dial-in contact
For phone dial-in contacts, follow these steps.
- Log into Zoom by using your email address and password.
- Select Account Management then Phone Dial-in Contacts from the navigation panel.
- Click Add.
- Input the information as follows:
- Display Name:
- Your meeting participants will see your contact‘s name.
- Phone Number:
- You will see the following elements of the phone number of your contact. The plus sign (+) and the dashes (-) should not be used. Enter the number +1 (408) 123-1234, for example, by entering 14081231234.
- Country code
- Area code
- Phone number
- Add another contact (optional) by clicking Add Another and repeating step 4.
- Save the contact.
Editing an existing phone dial-in contact
- Zoom’s web portal can be accessed by logging in.
- Click Phone Dial-in Contacts under Account Management in the navigation panel.
- Under the Edit contact field, click Edit.
- Fill in the details as follows:
- Display Name:
- Shown to other meeting participants as the contact’s name.
- Phone Number:
- An eight-character phone number. You should not use plus (+) and minus (-). To enter +1 (408) 123-1234, type 14081231234.
- Country code
- Area code
- Phone number
- Press Save.
Importing phone dial-in contacts using a CSV file
- The following data should be placed in a CSV file:
- Column 1 (display name):
- It’s the name of the contact that will be displayed to others in the meeting.
- Column 2 (phone number):
- Include the following components in the contact’s phone number. The plus sign (+) and dash (-) should not be used. If you want to specify +1 (408) 123-1234, enter 14081231234.
- Country code
- Area code
- Phone number
- Note:
- Adding several numbers to a contact is as simple as duplicating its display name. Duplicating phone numbers is not possible. You can only assign a phone number to one contact.
- Column headings are not required.
- Files should be saved as CSV (comma-delimited) files.
- Display names must not contain commas. Otherwise, the file cannot be recognized.
- Access the Zoom web portal from your computer.
- To access the Phone Dial-in Contacts section, click on Account Management in the navigation panel.
- Select Import.
- Double-click your CSV file after you select Keep both, then click Upload.
Note: - Reloading the page may be necessary to view the imported contacts once the import has been completed.
Updating phone numbers for existing phone dial-in contacts using a CSV file
Existing dial-in contacts can have their phone numbers updated.
Note:
CSV files cannot be used to modify contact names. You must edit an existing contact to change its name.
- Log in to the Zoom website.
- Go to Account Management, and then click Phone Dial-in Contacts in the navigation panel.
- CSV files can be created by clicking the Export to CSV link.
- Excel can be used to open the CSV file.
- Change the phone numbers for contacts in the second column, then save the file.
Note: - You cannot edit the first column (the names of contacts). Editing this column will cause an error that will prevent you from uploading the CSV file.
- You should click Import on the Phone Dial-in Contacts page, after which you should choose Update the numbers with the updated values in CSV.
- Once the CSV file has been uploaded to the system, double click it.
Note: - After the import has been completed, you may need to reload the page in order to see the updated contacts.
