Altering the Phone Settings based on the client or Zoom app.
Don’t know about the list of zoom phone settings accessible on the zoom mobile app or desktop client? That’s what this article deals with. For instance, you can change the ringtone for the inbound calls or for viewing the necessary info about your phone zoom accounts like the extension or direct numbers.

Preconditions for altering phone settings in the mobile app or desktop client.
- For zoom mobile app –
- The Android version must be 4.4.52504.0411 or above.
- For iOS, the version must be 4.4.0(52578.0414) or above.
- For desktop clients-
- For Windows clients, the version should be 4.4.52570.0415 or above.
- For Linux, you should have version 3.0.285090.0826 or above.
- Mac OS shall have version 4.4.52551.0414 or above.
- Also, must possess the zoom phone license.
For the Desktop clients.
Remember, those zoom settings have a laptop icon that is only permissible to change in the desktop client. And those settings won’t be available for the mobile app or web portal.
Step 1. You should zoom sign in to the desktop client.
Step 2. First, you have to tap on the profile picture after which you select settings.
Step 3. Tap on the Phone tab.
There you can find the below options, so learn about them.
- Company number. It will show the main company number with your extension number. So, run through the number and then tap on the copy button for copying it to the system clipboard.
Remember, for copying your company or direct number you can highlight it. After that, right-click on it and then tap on a copy.
- Direct number. It shows you the directly assigned numbers to you. Run over the number and then right-click to copy it on your system’s clipboard.
- Local Dialling. It shows you the country code by using the local calling. You can alter that in your zoom phone settings in the web portal.
- Shared Line Group. ( it is only visible when you’re a member of a shared line group). It can disable or enable the call notifications for inbound calls which are routed from your shared line group. This setting applies to mobile apps, desktop clients, or desk phones. The following feature also assists in syncing across all platforms including the web portal setting.
Remember, this zoom setting is not for the Linux client but you can alter this seating in the Zoom web portal.
- Area code. It will show the area code by using local calling. You can alter this in your zoom phone settings in the web portal.
- Emergency Address. It shows you the present emergency address. Tap on manage for managing your address when you see no emergency address detected or you require to update your address.
- Location permission. It permits zoom in accessing your location for the emergency call.
- Hide incoming calls while in a meeting. You have to turn off the notifications for incoming zoom phone calls when you are attending a zoom meeting.
Remember, this setting is applicable for the Zoom desktop client. When you are attending a zoom meeting by using the desktop client then, your provisioned desk phones will ring. When you are attending a zoom meeting from a mobile app then, you will get notifications for incoming zoom phone calls.

- The video Greeting.
- Launch an external app or a URL for incoming calls.
- Report problem. When requested by zoom support, then tap on the report for sending diagnostic info to zoom. Also, by calling or entering *#ZOOM# (*#9666#) you can send the diagnostic information.
- Autodial Preference. When previously you have permitted the third-party app for making auto calls then, tap manage to view the apps for having the permission or altering the duration of the permission in effect.
Remember, this feature should be enabled by the zoom admin.
Disabling or enabling calls from call queues.
To route calls to a group of users, the zoom phone admin can set up the call queues. When you are a member for one or multiple call queues then you can disable or enable the call notifications for inbound calls routed from call queues.
Remember,
- For queries about a list of call queues in which you are a part, check your settings in the Zoom web portal. When you are a member of multiple call queues, then you can disable or enable calls for specific call queues.
- This setting is available for the mobile app, zoom desktop clients, and desk phones. This zoom setting syncs throughout all platforms including the web portal setting.
Here’s how-
Step 1. You have to zoom sign in to the desktop client.
Step 2. In the available top right corner, tap on the profile picture.
Step 3. From the three options, choose anyone-
- For disabling or enabling all calls from call queues. Tap on the receive queues calls toggle.
Remember, while switching this toggle on but previously you have turned off the specific call queues then your previous configuration will become effective.
- When enabled by your admin, you have to choose a reason for opting out of the call queue.
- For disabling or enabling all calls from specific call queues. Tap on the toggles next to each call queue name for disabling or enabling call notifications from specific call queues.
How to change the ringtone?
Zoom would use a similar ringtone for an incoming zoom meeting invite and phone calls. For changing the ringtone go to the audio settings.
Step 1. You have to zoom sign in to the desktop client.
Step 2. Tap on the profile picture followed by which tap on settings.
Step 3. Tap the audio tab.
Step 4. From the drop-down menu select the ringtones and then choose a ringtone. For previewing the ringtone tap the play button.
For the mobile app.
Step 1. You have to zoom sign in to the mobile application.
Step 2. Click the settings tab.
Step 3. For seeing the zoom phone extension and the direct number, you have to click on your name and photo. Select a number for copying it to your system’s clipboard.
- Extension. It will show the extension number.
- Direct number. Those direct numbers that have been assigned to you, will display you.
Step 4. Click on the phone.
There you will find the below options-
- Area code. It shows you the area code which is usually used for local calling. Zoom phone auto adds the area code when you missed to dial the area code with the number. You can alter this by using your zoom phone settings in the web portal.
- Local calling. Those country codes used for local calling are shown.
- Receive queue calls. (It’s visible only when you are a member of the call queue). These call queues are usually set up by the zoom phone admin for routing calls to a user-based group. When you are a part of more than one call queue then you can disable or enable the call notifications for inbound calls routed from call queues. You can alter this from the web portal in your zoom phone settings. There are the following options –
- For disabling or enabling all calls from call queues. Tap on the receive queues calls toggle.

- Receive shared line group calls. (It is only visible when you are a member of the shared line group). This will disable or enable the call notifications for the inbound calls that are routed from your shared line group. This setting is applicable for zoom mobile apps, desktop clients, and desk phones. This zoom setting can be synced across all platforms which would include the identical web portal setting.
