Best practices on setting up a Control Hub organization in webex
In order for your Control Hub organization to be successful long term, you should follow these best practices so as to ensure you have all the setup recommendations.
Foundational setup
In order to make sure that your organization is able to get the most benefit out of your Webex services, you might want to consider following these foundational setups. If you do so, then you can ensure that you are getting the maximum benefit out of your Webex services.
Table 1. Foundational setups
What to set up | Benefits |
---|---|
Configure your network | In order for Webex to be able to access all the traffic required, you need to set up your network accordingly. This assures that the Webex services are optimized for the users, as well as making troubleshooting network issues that may arise much easier, so that you do not have to spend valuable time and energy on them. |
Verify your domains | By verifying your domains, Control Hub can identify users whose email domains are used to log into Webex. In the absence of domain verification, users are assigned to a consumer organization, making their management more difficult. You must complete this setup step in order for your organization to be able to claim users. |
Set up automated license templates | Create a license template that automatically assigns licenses to new users, so that you won't have to worry about it every time a new user joins your team. As part of this, once users are onboarded, they can begin using Webex immediately. Group license templates can be created based on Active Directory groups so that licenses are assigned based on membership. |
Claim your users | Then you can claim Webex users with your organization's email domain in the Control Hub after you've verified your domains. Having all of your company's Webex users organized into one organization ensures that you will be able to effectively manage them and provide the support and services they require so long as they are in the same organization. |
Claim your domains | It is now possible for you to claim your domains once you have claimed all your company's users and they are in the main organization. You will be able to add new users to Webex with your company's email domain as soon as they sign up using your company's email address as opposed to adding them to another organization when you claim your domain. |
Advanced setup
It is recommended that, once you have completed the foundational setup, you also dedicate a few hours to completing the advanced setup after you have accomplished the foundational setup. Onboarding new users and managing existing users has never been easier than when you have access to the advanced setup.
Table 2. Advanced setups
What to set up | Benefits |
---|---|
Set up Active Directory with Cisco Directory Connector | Cisco Directory Connector allows you to connect Microsoft Active Directory to Control Hub if you use Microsoft Active Directory for managing users in your company. Active Directory becomes the single source of truth when Directory Connector maintains your user accounts and data. The Webex cloud always replicates the changes you make on-premises when you make them. In addition to Webex, Azure Active Directory is also synchronized with Webex. |
Set up Single Sign On (SSO) | The Webex App and other applications in your organization can be accessed using one set of credentials; this enables your users to experience the Webex App and other applications more consistently. |
Configure hybrid calender services | Users can schedule and join meetings straight from Microsoft Exchange, Office 365, or Google Calendar without having to download additional plug-ins from your site when you connect Webex to these calendar apps. |
