Call presence synchronization in Webex Calling
Is your co-worker on the phone or on a call? Have you ever wondered if they were available to speak with you? By using Cisco Deskphone’s call status synchronization, you are able to eliminate the need to keep track of the status of your calls with a single click of the mouse.
As of now, the presence status of a Cisco phone used by a Webex user on a call is not synchronized with the Webex App when the user is on the call. It is impossible for your coworkers to detect your status on your phone. Due to this, coworkers are unsure how to handle a new call, so they are unable to forward it to you.
With this feature, your desk phone status on-call is synchronized with the Webex Workspace App, so you can view it on the Webex Workspace App as well, so you and your colleagues will be able to know when you will be available using this feature. A presence status of “On a Call” will be displayed when you are engaged in a call that is in progress. In the event that your call ends, the status will change back to available.
In some cases, the presence state “On a call” has a higher priority than other presence states that have low priority. The most common states that this occurs is “Do not disturb”, “out of office”, “presentation” or “in a meeting”. On-hook or off-hook activity on the phone does not result in the user’s presence status changing to “On a call” when the user’s presence status is one of these.
