Changing basic and advanced cloud recording settings in zoom App
When you enable cloud recording, you can decide which recording settings are applied to any meetings or webinars you record to the cloud. Accounts, groups, or individual users can apply these settings. Additionally, you can manage other cloud recording settings for users or groups within your account if you are the account owner or admin.
Notes:
- A paid member can enable or disable settings in their own account if they are not locked.
- Members cannot enable or disable locked settings and should contact their account administrators if they wish to make any changes.
Prerequisites for changing cloud recording settings
- Cloud recording is enabled
- for Pro, Business, and Enterprise accounts
- Licensed user
How to apply individual settings to your cloud recordings
Cloud recordings can be customized according to a host’s preferences, including the type of view, whether public chat messages are included, and the timestamp. Users and groups will be able to keep the settings they had previously changed.
Users and administrators have the ability to enable, disable, and lock these settings.
- Zoom’s web portal requires you to sign in.
- To sign in, click one of the following options:
- The owner or administrator of an account can change settings for the entire account by clicking Account Management then Account Settings.
- If you are an account owner or administrator who wishes to make changes to a group of users, click User Management, then Group Management, and then select the group name.
Note: - The Group Management page has been renamed to Groups if you created your Zoom account after August 21, 2021; or if the New Admin Experience is enabled on your account.
- To access the settings page, click Settings.
- The Recording tab will appear.
- You can adjust the basic and advanced cloud recording settings as necessary.
- Then click Save.
Basic cloud recording settings
Depending on what you want to record in your video, you can select or clear the following cloud recording settings. Whatever you select will be recorded in your video.
- Record active speaker with shared screen:
- Capture both the active speaker’s view and shared content simultaneously.
- Record gallery view with shared screen:
- Take a video of both the gallery view and shared content at the same time.
- Record active speaker, gallery view and shared screen separately:
- Take separate videos for the active speaker, gallery view, and shared screen.
- Select Active speaker only to record the active speaker.
- Select Gallery view only to record the gallery view.
- Select Shared screen only to record the shared screen.
- Record an audio only file:
- Only record the audio of the video. An M4A file containing the recording will be sent to you.
- Save chat messages from the meeting / webinar:
- Save meeting/webinar chat messages by checking this box. The transcript of the meeting/webinar chat messages will be sent to you as a TXT file.
Note: - When saving a chat transcript, only messages sent to all participants will be included. The saved chat will only contain messages from the host and panelists to all participants during webinars. Individual messages are not stored in the cloud.
Advanced cloud recording settings
You can select or clear the following settings to fine-tune and add specifics to your cloud recordings:
- Add a timestamp to the recording:
- Record your meeting with a timestamp. The time will be displayed in the host’s time zone, set in their Zoom profile.
- Display participants’ names in the recording:
- Display participants’ names in the bottom-right corner of the video.
- Record thumbnails when sharing:
- When screen sharing, include a thumbnail of the presenter.
- Optimize the recording for 3rd party video editor:
- Generate video files that are compatible with 3rd party video editors with cloud recording. Increasing file size is possible.
- Audio transcript:
- Select this option to automatically transcribe your cloud recordings.
- Recording highlights:
- An automatic summary of meeting details is generated from the audio transcript for informational purposes.
- Save panelist chat to the recording:
- During a webinar, panelists may choose to send messages to all panelists or all panelists and attendees.
- Save poll results shared during the meeting/webinar:
- Ensure the cloud recording includes any poll results shared during the meeting/webinar.
- Save closed caption as a VTT file:
- Users can access the closed captions in the cloud recording detail page by downloading a VTT file.
