Changing phone number settings in zoom App
Overview
The admin can modify phone number settings such as display name and whether incoming calls are allowed after obtaining phone numbers.
Prerequisites
- Business, education, or pro accounts
- Are privileged to be account owners or administrators
- Of the Zoom Phone account
Instructions
- Zoom’s web portal can be accessed by signing in.
- Select Phone Numbers from the navigation menu.
- Choose Assigned or Unassigned from the drop-down menu.
- You can change the details by clicking the number.
- Here are the settings you can change:
- Display Name:
- To change the internal-only display name of your phone, you need to click on Set Display Name or Edit. The display name can be used to make it easier for users to identify the number when they change the outgoing caller ID on their phone.
Note: - Inbound caller ID is not affected by the display name.
- Capability:
- You can enable incoming or outgoing calling for this number by checking the check boxes. In the web portal and desktop client, numbers will appear as Outgoing or Incoming based on this setting.
- A number that is only checked for incoming calls can’t receive calls.
- The number can only receive calls, and cannot make calls if only Incoming is checked. The number cannot be used for emergency calls. When a Zoom Room receives a lot of spam calls, setting the number to incoming only can be useful in blocking all incoming calls.
Note: - Incoming numbers will appear as the caller ID, but users won’t be able to make calls using these numbers.
