Changing phone or device settings in zoom App
In the web portal, admins can change the settings of a phone or device after adding and provisioning it. The admin can also make changes at the account level.
Prerequisites for changing phone or device settings
- Account type: Professional, Business, or Education
- Ownership or administrative rights
- License for Zoom
- Device provisioned and added
How to change phone or device settings
You can edit a device you have added by following these steps. The device can be reassigned or unbound so that no one can use it.
- Log in to Zoom’s web portal.
- Select Phone System Management from the navigation menu, then select Phones & Devices.
- On the Assigned or Unassigned tab, click.
- Select the phone or device to edit from the list.
Here are the options:
- Display name:
- You can rename the display name by clicking the Rename button.
- Site (only visible if you have multiple sites):
- Presents the device’s site. Whenever a device is associated with a phone user, the device’s site appears here. A phone user needs to be moved to a different site if you want to change the site.
- Assigned To:
- You can see the name of the phone user who has been assigned the device (if applicable). Click Assign to assign the phone if it has not been assigned yet. Click the cross mark next to the device you wish to reassign, then click Assign.
Note: - It is possible to assign more than one phone user to the device if it supports multiple phone users.
- Emergency Address:
- This section displays the emergency address that has been detected for the device if nomadic emergency services have been enabled.
- IP Address:
- Provides information related to the device’s private IP address.
Note: - The IP address of the device is also displayed if nomadic emergency services and personal location are enabled.
- Device Type:
- Shows the device’s model and brand.
- Firmware Version:
- Provides information about the device’s firmware. The latest supported firmware versions are available on the certified phone hardware page. When a device isn’t provisioned or doesn’t support firmware sharing, a dash is displayed.
- MAC Address:
- This parameter contains the 12-digit MAC address of the associated device. You can change the MAC address of the device if you haven’t provisioned it yet.
Note: - You should enter the wired MAC address from your wired phone and not the wireless MAC address from your wireless phone if you are using a wireless phone.
- Network Switch:
- It displays your network switch’s MAC address and port label if you have enabled nomadic emergency services and personal location.
- Provision Template:
- This displays if you assigned a provision template to the phone.
- Bind (only visible if you don’t have a template assigned):
- Provide the phone with a provision template.
- Edit:
- Make the provision template different.
- Unbind:
- Get rid of the template. It can be assigned again.
- Status:
- Indicates whether the device has been provisioned. A phone that has been provisioned and is currently functioning will display a status of Online.
- Provision:
- Provide instructions on how to provision the phone. For a complete guide, click here.
- Set up as Common Area Phone:
- Add a common area phone to an unassigned phone.
Note: - This option is available only for unassigned phones.
- Remove:
- The phone will be removed from Zoom Phone.
Note:
After making changes to the device, sync it again. Devices configured for Poly and Yealink provisioning do not need to be restarted to receive the upgrades. This may, however, depend on how the settings are changed. Provisioning desk phones or paging/intercom devices should be performed according to the guides for those devices.
