Changing status to Away when inactive in zoom app

If you are inactive for a specified amount of minutes, your presence status will change to Away. If you are inactive for 15 minutes, your presence status will automatically change to Away; however, you can change it. For managing your idle status during idle time, you can use this setting.

Prerequisites for Change my status to “Away” when I am inactive

  • Client for Zoom

    • The latest version of Windows is 5.2.0 (42619.0804) or higher

    • The latest version of macOS is 5.2.0 (42634.0805).

Using Change my status to “Away” when I am inactive

When your computer is inactive, change the status to Away:

  1. Zoom Desktop Client should be opened.

  2. You can access your profile settings by clicking your profile picture.

  3. Team Chat can be accessed by clicking here.

  4. If you are not active for more than ___ minutes, select the Change my status to “Away” option under Chat Settings.

  5. You can choose the number of minutes that you wish to be inactive from the dropdown menu.
    It is also possible to type a specific number of minutes.

  6. When I am inactive for ___ minutes, I want to choose “Away” when I am inactive. (Optional) Select this check box to disable this setting.
    You will be prevented from being automatically set to Away by this setting.

How do you keep status available on Zoom?
To access your user profile, click on the user icon in the top right corner of your screen. Go to Settings and click on it. You will find the Chat tab there. Generally, you’ll want to uncheck the checkbox that says “Change my status to “Away” if I’m inactive for [x] minutes” if you don’t want to be marked as “Away.”.
Does zoom kick for inactivity?
You will be notified when your meeting ends according to the idle time, your account type, and the number of participants. Meetings and webinars are subject to these time limits regardless of the device (client, app, phone) used to start the meeting.
