Installing the Jabber app for Microsoft Teams can enhance your experience with Microsoft Teams. Microsoft Teams now supports video and voice calling with Jabber enhancements from within the app.
Cisco Jabber for Microsoft Teams
For Microsoft Teams Users—The Microsoft TeamsCall application allows you to easily make calls with the use of a dial pad or you have the option of turning a chat conversation into a call that is available on Windows, Mac, Android, iPhone, iPad, or Web. In addition to adding speed dials to contacts that are synchronized to your directory, and Outlook contacts, you can also add contacts to your speed dial list. For more information, please refer to the tabs below.
For Administrators—In order to ensure a seamless calling experience for your team in Microsoft Teams, you should configure Cisco Jabber for Microsoft Teams, which provides instructions on how to configure Jabber for your organization.
First Time Users—This Cisco app requires you to grant permission to search contacts and interact with Microsoft Teams when you first use the app (or sign out of Microsoft Teams) for the first time. When you don’t grant it, you will be asked to verify your account by entering your username and password.
Jabber Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI)
There are several ways in which Jabber Calling can be integrated with Microsoft Teams in VDI environments. It is necessary to run Cisco Jabber and Microsoft Teams simultaneously in the same virtual machine if Cisco Jabber and Microsoft Teams will be used in a VDI environment. In addition to installing the Jabber agent and client in VDI mode, Jabber must also be configured to run in VDI mode. Please refer to the documentation for Jabber VDI for more information.

Speed Dial Improvements

In order to make it easier to get in touch with those people in your area on a Friday afternoon, we have now enabled you to add contacts and their phone numbers outside of Azure Active Directory and Outlook.

A contact with more than one phone number can now be selected as a speed dial number if the contact has more than one.
Interactive Voice Response (IVR) dialpad
DTMF (Dual Tone Multi Frequency) is a system that allows you to access the dialpad during an audio call and has now been fully implemented throughout.
Desktop
The dial pad or the conversation space can be used to make a call. If the contact is assigned a phone number, the system automatically calls that number on behalf of the contact. The assigned email address is used if a phone number cannot be found. In this case the assigned email address is utilized.

Before you begin
Make sure you have the Jabber app installed in Microsoft Teams by your administrator or the person who owns your team space. In the application bar of your browser, you will see the Jabber icon if it has been installed.
- You can use the Jabber Call feature at the bottom of the screen when you are chatting with someone.
- The drop-down menu will expand when you select the number under the contact so that you can view more calling options.
- Please click on the Call button.
An entirely new window will open when the app is launched.
Make a Call Using the Dial Pad
It is possible to make a call to any number in your address book, whether it be an AD account, an Outlook contact, or any number from your contact list when you have the Jabber integration for Microsoft Teams.
- Click Jabber from the app bar in the team space, in the team space.
- You will need to type in the name of the person you wish to call, their phone number, or their video address in the provided box.
In order to search your email contacts and directory-synchronized contacts, type a name in the box below.
- If you wish to contact one of the suggested contacts, click on the contact’s name.
- Please click on the Call button.
Speed Dials for Jabber in Microsoft Teams
With Cisco Jabber integration in Microsoft Teams, you can quickly and easily contact your most frequent contacts quickly and easily with the ease of just adding them as speed dials from your Azure Active Directory and Outlook contacts. The app saves the speed dials that you have entered into your Microsoft 365 profile. Speed dials are automatically saved to the Microsoft cloud when the indicator next to the speed dial title indicates that it is happening. It is also possible to add custom speed dials for those contacts who do not have an Azure Active Directory or an Outlook contact database.
- You can make use of Jabber by clicking on the app bar in the team space.
- Then click on the Add a speed dial button.
- Start typing a name to search for a contact to add the speed dial, or create a new speed dial.

Arrange your speed dials on the screen—If you would like to re-arrange the order in which your speed dials appear on your screen, click and drag the speed dials.

Remove a speed dial contact—You can remove the contact from speed dial by clicking on the ellipses on the contact card.

Edit a custom contact—Click on the ellipses on the contact card and then click on Edit speed dial.
Android and iPhone
The Jabber app can be used on both Android and iPhone devices as a way of making a call using Microsoft Teams for Android and iPhone.
Before you begin
It is important that your manager or the owner of your Microsoft Teams team space makes sure the Jabber app is installed.
- Select Chat from the home screen by tapping on it
- In order to reach out to someone, we recommend searching for their name and tapping their name.
- Select Jabber from the list of options by tapping the ellipses.
- Select the number from the list to call if you wish, and then tap on the number displayed to open the options to call.
