Cisco Proximity 4.0: Cloud pairing in webex
In terms of telecommunications, Cisco Proximity provides users with the ability to share content wirelessly with others, make calls, and control video conferencing devices from their laptop, when they are within a certain distance of one.
Cisco Proximity is a Cisco technology that enables video conferencing devices to transmit ultrasound pairing messages when Cisco Proximity is enabled. As soon as the Cisco Proximity client receives these messages, the video conferencing device can automatically pair with the nearby device if it has a Cisco Proximity client installed.
The Cisco Webex app can be deployed to share files wirelessly, control devices and make it easy to join meetings. It’s best to opt for a device-centric approach when required, but in cases where this isn’t possible, Cisco Proximity is a lightweight alternative with no infrastructure requirements.
It is possible for Windows or OS X users to download the Cisco Proximity app for free here. Visit the app’s official website for more information on how to use it.
If the cloud-managed software upgrade for Webex Edge for Devices and Webex optimized experience are enabled on the device, Cisco Proximity is available for it.
