Video and audio for meetings require significant bandwidth, causing bottlenecks in data centers. Virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) environments are enhanced with Cisco Webex Meetings Virtual Desktop Software. Hosted virtual desktops (HVDs) run Webex Meetings software, while thin clients use Webex Meetings plugins. Video and audio streams are routed between thin clients and Webex Meetings cloud without passing through the datacenter HVD.

In non-VDI environments, Webex Meetings Desktop App is used instead of the Virtual Desktop Software.

• A thin client and Webex cloud communicate using audio and video, with video in 720p.

• Cloud meetings are easy to deploy:

  • On thin clients, install the agent plugin and the Webex Meetings Desktop App.

  • In addition to Cisco Unified Communications Manager, Cisco Expressway is not required.

VMware, Citrix XenApp with Desktop Publishing, and Citrix XenDesktop support Webex Meetings Virtual Desktop Software.

If you are a Webex Meetings customer, you can download the software from the company website to use in your virtual desktops.

To download the webexvdi.msi plugin package, go to https://<sitename>.webex.com/webappng/sites/<sitename>/dashboard/download and replace <sitename> with your company name.
