Configure Digital Signage on Webex Share
Digital signage gives you the ability to put unique video and still graphics on your display screen while Webex Share is idle or while you are waiting for a meeting to begin. You are able to present advertising content and promote your business, but you can also offer information or announcements for both visitors and employees working internally.
Access to Appspace is necessary for digital signage to function.
After two minutes of inactivity, Webex Share will go into the signage mode. During events such as meetings and screen sharing, as well as upcoming events that are scheduled on the calendar, images do not appear.
If you are going to use static images, keep the following guidelines in mind:
- The highest resolution available is 1920 by 1080. Appspace will resize an image for you if you upload one that is of a larger size.
- PNG and JPEG are the only formats for static image files that are supported.
Take aware of the following technical requirements if you want to use video:
-
Container Format: .mp4.
-
Video Encoding: H.264.
- No B frames. If you are encoding your video using Handbrake, be sure that the zerolatency tuning parameter is selected.
The following configurations for H.264 are suggested for use with video:
-
Main Profile.
-
Level 4.2.
- The highest possible resolution is 1920 by 1080, and the highest possible frame rate is 30 frames per second. If you change any of these settings beyond what is allowed, the movie will not play. When Webex Share receives the subsequent video, playback of the video returns to its normal state.
- Streaming video on the web should be optimized for.
Disable Low Bandwidth Mode if you stream video.
Your screen’s display settings have an effect on the visuals used for Digital Signage. If the static images on your TV appear distorted or of a low quality, you should adjust the settings for the display on your television. For instance, some manufacturers of displays provide you the option to turn down the Sharpness setting or change the Picture Mode to Computer or something comparable. Please refer to the documentation that was included with your TV for any further information.
The following Standby settings will be modified if Digital Signage has been configured by you:
- The control goes from Standby to On when it is reset.
- Standby > Delay will default to one hundred and twenty minutes, and Sleep mode will activate. This is the amount of time that will pass before the device goes into Sleep mode.
HTML5 is not supported.
Before you begin
In order to create an Appspace channel, you will need an Appspace administrator account as well as an HTTP secure URL. If your Appspace server utilizes a certificate that it has signed on its own, you will need to share that certificate with Webex Share. If you have a locally hosted Appspace server as well as a certificate that bears the signature of a Trusted Certificate Authority, then you do not need to share your certificate.
1 Beginning in the customer view at https://admin.webex.com/, navigate to the Devices menu option.
2 From the inventory, choose your device, and then enter the Advanced Configurations menu.
3 Make your selection using the DigitalSignageServer.
4 In the area provided, enter the URL of your AppSpace.
5 Click the Apply button.
