Configure emergency call notifications in Control Hub-Webex
Any call that is placed from within your organization to emergency services must comply with Public Law 115-127, often known as Kari’s Law, which mandates that an email notification be sent whenever an emergency call is placed. You have the option to enable or disable email emergency call notifications for every location, or you can choose to enable only certain places.
Emergency call notification details
An email notification is dispatched to the address that you provide if there is a call for emergency assistance. Before activating this feature, you should check to see if your users are aware of its expected behavior. The following is included in the notification:
The date and time that the emergency call was placed are as follows:
- Dialed number
- Identifier of the user, initial and last names
- (If it has been assigned) the user’s extension.
- Phone number of the user (if assigned) — The user’s given phone number may or may not correlate to the phone number that is used as the caller ID and that is passed as the callback number to emergency services. In the event that the caller is an extension only, the notification will simply include the extension.
- The information regarding the location that the user is allocated to, including the location ID and name.
- Address of the location is the primary address that has been established for the location that the user is assigned to. There is a possibility that the physical location of the person who called for help does not correspond to this location.
- The sole language option for the email that is created is English. At this time, there is no support for the translation of the Emergency Call Notification email.
- The email address that begins with “From:” in the Notification email is a “do not reply” address that cannot be edited.
Emergency Call Notifications are turned off by default on most devices.

It should be possible for particular places to activate emergency notifications.
You have the ability to give specific locations permission to activate Emergency Call Notifications. This comes in handy in situations in which different places would like the email notification to be delivered to different email addresses. It is necessary to first activate this setting at the organization level before it can be specified at the location level.
1. From the customer view on https://admin.webex.com, navigate to Services > Calling > Service Settings, and once there, scroll down until you see Emergency call notice.
2 Toggle the Emergency call notification switch, then select the option to Let individual locations decide whether or not to activate the notification.
3Once the option to turn on notifications has been enabled for individual locations, navigate to Management > Locations and then choose the location you wish to edit.
4 Click the Emergency Call Notification button located in the Emergency Calling section.
5 If the situation calls for it, toggle on the Emergency call notice.
6 Choose the method(s) by which you would like to receive Emergency Call Notifications for this location:
- If you choose this option, you will be prompted to input the email address to which all location-specific emergency call notifications should be sent.
- Email used by the organization by default — If this option has not been configured at the organization level under Service Settings, it will be deactivated.
Turn on email notifications for all locations
You are able to configure an email notice so that it is applicable across an organization’s whole footprint.
1. From the customer view on https://admin.webex.com, navigate to Services > Calling > Service Settings, and once there, scroll down until you see Emergency call notice.
2. Toggle the box next to Emergency call notification, then choose the checkbox next to Turn on email notifications for all locations.
3. Enter the email address to which you would like any alerts regarding the emergency call delivered.
Where do we go from here?
When this setting is activated, notifications of emergency calls for all of the sites that are part of this organization are sent to the email address that was configured in the step before this one. Go to Management > Locations if you want to pick a different notification email address for a certain place. You’ll find this option there. Click the Calling tab, then in the Emergency Calling section, choose Emergency Call Notification from the drop-down menu, and then save your changes.
Testing
The usage of 933 as the emergency test number for all of North America is supported by testing locations in both the United States and Canada. You can test the emergency call email creation by contacting this number, which is 933, without alerting the persons responsible for maintaining public safety.
You may have access to additional emergency call testing capabilities, however this will depend on the PSTN and emergency services provider that you use.
