Configure Settings for Meetings Started by Phone in webex
The host can dial in to the Personal Room to start a meeting or start a scheduled meeting by dialing in from their phone. Those of you who are administrators have the capability of enhancing the security of these meetings as well as making joining these meetings easier for hosts and attendees at these meetings.
Control Hub
- Click Meetings under the Services menu in the Customer View on the Webex Admin page https://admin.webex.com.
- Click on the Configure Site button after selecting your site.
- Select Site Options from the Common Settings section.
- Scroll down to the Site Options section if you are configuring settings for meetings that are being started by phone in the Personal Room. The following settings can be configured by you:
-
Allow hosts to start Personal Room meetings from phone—Using the Webex Meetings app, the host can start meetings from the mobile phone without the need for the Webex Meetings app to be installed.
-
Require hosts to validate their phone number that is saved in their preferences when starting a Personal Room meeting from their phones—With Webex Meetings enabled, the phone number stored in their Audio and Video preferences and the number they are calling from are validated against the number saved in their Webex account by Webex Meetings. In the event that the Personal Room meeting is disabled, the host will not be required to validate their phone number in order to start their meeting. The default setting for this setting is to disable it.
-
Guests can join without waiting in the lobby when the host starts an unlocked meeting from a phone—If a participant does not have an account with the host’s site, they can still join the host’s meeting by joining the host’s Personal Room directly from the meeting lobby without having to wait for the host’s approval in advance. There is only one setting under Personal Room Security that is going to apply when the guests wait in the lobby for the host to admit them, which is checked in the Personal Room Security setting.
- The Security Options section of the Webex configuration screen is where you will find information about setting up a scheduled Webex meeting. You can configure the following settings under Webex Meetings Phone Settings:
-
Require hosts to validate their phone number that is saved in their preferences when starting a meeting from their phones—In Webex Meetings, the Host is able to select the Add a phone number that will be validated against the host’s account’s phone number when they call in, if the Add a phone number option is enabled in the host’s Audio and Video preferences in their Webex account. With this setting disabled, hosts cannot validate their phone numbers when scheduling a meeting. Default settings enable this setting.
-
Guests can join without waiting in the lobby when the host starts an unlocked meeting from a phone—It is possible for non-users of the host’s website to join the team’s scheduled meeting directly without having to wait for approval from the host in the meeting lobby if they do not have an account on the host’s website. As long as the setting under the Webex Meetings Security is enabled, then the Guests are required to wait in the lobby until they are admitted by the host.
