Create a workspace and add services for Webex Share
You must associate your Webex Share device with a physical location in order to be able to use it.
- Click the Add Workspace button on the customer view within the admin section of http://admin.webex.com and then select the workspace you wish to create.
- Please enter a name for your workspace (for instance, the name of the room where it will be located), select a room type, and add a capacity for it. Once you have clicked on Next, you will be taken to the next step.
- By clicking on the next button, you will be able to select the Cisco Webex Rooms device.
The number of devices that you can have in one space is limited to one type. A lobby can be equipped with up to 10 desk phones, or you can add one Webex Room Device to a lobby. However, you cannot add the two together.
- The default option is to choose Call on Webex (one-to-one, not over the PSTN). Despite the fact that Webex Share doesn’t require the use of a call service, you can select the default service as a default to continue.
- To allow everyone to use One Button to Push (OBTP) on this device, toggle on the calendar service, then click Next to enable the OBTP feature.
- In the case that the calendar service was toggled on, enter the email address of the calendar mailbox of the device that is assigned to the room. In order to schedule meetings, you will need to use the email address listed below.
-
The calendar email address for G Suite resources (Calendar > Resources) must be entered for devices that will be scheduled in Google Calendar.
-
If the devices will be scheduled in an Office 365 or Microsoft Exchange mailbox, enter the email address of the room mailbox where the device will be scheduled.
- An activation code will be generated when you click Next.
Before activating your Webex Share, you will need to deploy your certificate to your Webex Share in order to use certificates.
Set a proxy for Webex Share
In the event that your organization uses firewalls to protect the internal network, you might want to set up a proxy server so that your users can access networks outside the organisation. It is the proxy’s responsibility to ensure that that connection is filtered.
In the box, you will find a printed document titled Start Here that shows how to plug in Webex Share as seen in the attached images.

Select the workspace that is associated with the device you are using and search for it.

Webex Share Features
Webex Share Features
The Cisco Webex Control Hub can add functionality to the Webex Share device once it has been added to the Cisco Webex Control Hub. Some of the features that are supported are listed in the following table.
In order to take advantage of certain Webex Share features, you will need to connect your Webex Share device to a HDMI-CEC port on your display screen so that CEC can be enabled on your device. You can find more information about the screen in the documentation provided with the screen.
Webex Share Feature | Description and more information |
---|---|
Digital Signage | Displays from your display can show custom content such as advertising materials and brand information, visitor information, employee information, dashboards and calendars, as well as information about visitors and internal employees. |
Room Calendar | Your conference room can show you a list of meetings that are scheduled for the day. |
Wireless Guest Share | A Webex registered room device can be shared wirelessly to any user without requiring an account to do so. It is not necessary to configure this feature in order to use it. There is a possibility that shared images can distort on some display screens, so you may need to adjust the display screen settings on your display screen. You may adjust the Sharpness settings, or you can change the Picture Mode to Computer or something equivalent, to adjust the sharpness. Your display screen's documentation will contain additional information about how to use it, so please read that document carefully. |
