Enable CLI Authentication for Cisco Webex Meetings, Cisco Webex Events, and Cisco Webex Training in Webex Site Administration
If you use CLI authentication in Webex Meetings, Webex Events, and Webex Training sessions, you can provide your users with a greater level of security.
Overview
An Automatic Number Identification (ANI) or a Calling Line Identification (CLI) system is one form of caller identification that transmits a caller’s number before a call is answered. The number is sent to the system prior to the call being answered. The meeting number does not have to be entered into the joining form in order to join the meeting. You will be able to connect to the audio portion of a meeting by contacting the WebEx site preference website from the number you called in from, and the system will direct you to the correct meeting once the system has verified that number with the number you called in from.
ANI/CLI authentication can only be enabled once it is enabled on the Webex site, and once it is enabled for all users, it should work. It is possible for users with host accounts to use ANI/CLI authentication if you enable this option for them.
-
The ANI/CLI authentication service can be used to set up a meeting with dial-in participants.
-
In order to be authenticated, ANI/CLI-enabled audio conferences are required to specify a phone number that participants can call. It is, however, only those who have been invited via email as part of the scheduling process who will be authenticated.
-
A way to prevent the use of a fake number when dialing in to meetings is to specify an audio PIN which can be used.
Enable CLI Authentication for the Webex Site
CLI authentication must be enabled at a global level for each Webex site that you wish to be able to use CLI authentication for.
- Go to Configuration > Common Site Settings > Options in Webex Site Administration and sign in with your account information.
- If the Enable teleconferencing with CLI authentication box is checked in the Site Options settings, you can begin teleconferencing.
- Click on the Update button at the bottom of the page once you have scrolled down.
Enable CLI Authentication for a User

- Go to the Webex Site Administration interface and choose the User Management tab > Edit User tab after logging in.
During the process of creating a new user, you can choose to enable CLI authentication under User Management > Add User.

- You can enable teleconferencing CLI authentication by scrolling down to the Telephony privilege and checking the box.
- Click on the Update button at the bottom of the page once you have scrolled down.
