Enable live streaming in Webex Meetings and Webex Events
Streaming services such as Facebook Live, IBM Video Streaming, Vbrick Rev, and many others can be used by Webex administrators to allow meeting hosts to live stream Webex meetings and events.
Events and meetings can be streamed on Twitter using Periscope Producer, Workplace from Facebook, and YouTube with YouTube Live, which both support Real-Time Messaging Protocol (RTMP) or Real-Time Messaging Protocol-Secure (RTMPS).
The WBS40.2 and later versions of Events support live streaming.
Meetings and events can both stream live when live streaming is enabled.
Live streaming can be enabled by Webex site administrators by following these steps:

Webex should be configured to provide live streaming services.

Control Hub
Enable live streaming services on your Webex site
- In the customer view, under Meeting, select Sites in the Services section of https://admin.webex.com.
- Select Configuration > Common Settings > Site Options on the Webex site you wish to change the settings for.
- Select the streaming services you wish to enable from the Live Streaming Services section.
- Update the page by scrolling to the bottom.
Enable live streaming for individual users
- The user whose privileges need to be changed can be selected in the Customer View in https://admin.webex.com by going to Users.
- Right-click on the Meeting service in the right-hand panel.
- To change privileges for a particular Webex site, select it under Webex Meeting Sites.
- You can change the tracking codes and advanced user settings by clicking here.
- Check the Enable Live Streaming box in the User Settings section.
- Update the page by scrolling to the bottom.
Enable video resolution
- Managing your Webex site requires you to sign in. Configuration > Common Site Settings > Options can be found on the left navigation bar.
- To allow attendees to view the webcast, scroll down to Webcast view and check the box.
Select 1080p video resolution from the drop-down menu once checked.
- Click on Live Streaming Providers to see a list of providers.
- Streaming providers’ video resolution can be changed by checking the checkbox next to it and then selecting 1080p from the dropdown menu.
- Please click the Update button.
Site Administration
Enable live streaming services on your Webex site
- Sign in to the Webex site administration page. Go to the Configuration section on the left navigation bar, where you will find the Common Site Settings section.
- Select the streaming service that you wish to enable from the Live Streaming Services section in the top navigation bar.
- Then scroll down the page to the bottom and click on the Update button.
Enable live streaming for individual users
- Log in to the administration section of the Webex site. If you would like to update a user account, select the Edit User option in the left navigation bar and select a user account from the list.
- The Enable Live Streaming check box can be found in the Privileges section for that user.
- Then scroll down the page to the bottom and click on the Update button.
Enable video resolution
- You will need to sign into the administration area of the Webex site. You can find the Common Site Settings menu at the top of the Configuration menu on the left navigation bar.
- You will need to scroll down to the Webcast view section and check the checkbox for Attendees can view the webcast.
When you select it, a drop-down menu will appear and you can choose between 1080p and 720p video resolutions.
- Go to the section of Live Streaming Providers on the left side of the page.
- If you want to change the video resolution of any streaming provider, just visit the provider’s settings page and select “Settings” from the drop-down menu. This will set the video resolution to 1080p.
- Then click the Update button.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can you live stream a Webex meeting?
Streaming a meeting or event live can be done on one live streaming service for each meeting or event. Live streaming must be enabled by your Webex administrator. Please contact your Service Provider’s customer support team if you are having problems streaming Webex live from your computer if you subscribe to Webex from your Service Provider.
How do I stream on Webex?
Log into Webex and begin your meeting, webinar, or event. Once you have signed in, you are ready to start. In the More Options menu, click on Start live streaming and then click on the Start live streaming button. A practice session during a webinar or event cannot be streamed live on your desktop or mobile device. The video layout of your stream can be set by clicking Change streaming layouts (optional).
How do I join a Webex meeting?
When it is time to join the meeting, you will be able to tap the Join Meeting button in your email invitation. The Webex Meetings app can be downloaded by clicking on the download button and you will be able to join the meeting via video. Tap the number on your screen if you wish to join the meeting only by phone. Please accept the Terms of Service and Privacy Statement after the app has been installed by tapping on the Open button.
Is Webex meeting the same as zoom?
