How do I enable SMS for a phone user or site?
Depending on the policy settings, you can enable SMS either at the phone user level, at the site level (if multiple sites are enabled) or at the account level.
How do I enable SMS for a call queue or auto receptionist?
The ability to send and receive SMS messages can be enabled for a call queue or auto receptionist so that phone users can use the phone numbers associated with the extension to send or receive SMS messages.
How do I enable international SMS?
Additionally, you can allow international SMS messages to be sent by phone users from certain countries or regions, so that they can send SMS messages. In either case, multiple sites can be disabled or enabled depending on whether the account level is enabled or the site level is enabled.
See the SMS admin guide for more information.
Does SMS support end-to-end encryption?
End-to-end encryption is not supported by Zoom Phone SMS.
How do I access SMS logs?
See the SMS admin guide for more information.
How do I view charges for SMS usage?
As part of the phone usage report, you can view SMS charges that have been incurred.
How do I opt out of Zoom Phone SMS and use a third-party provider?
In order to integrate your SMS provider with your existing one, you will need to request an integration.

What are the prerequisites for SMS?
For a list of prerequisites, please refer to the SMS user guide. Your Zoom Phone administrator will be able to assist you if you are not able to access SMS.
How do I send images?
It is possible to send files in the following formats: JPG, PNG, and GIF. You can find more information about SMS in the SMS user guide.
Can I send video files?
As of right now, no. In the near future, we hope to make this possible.
Can I send and receive messages from the web portal?
There is no other option than using the Zoom desktop client or Zoom Mobile app to send and receive messages.
Can I send or receive messages to/from SMS short codes? (For example, receiving Multi-Factor Authentication codes.)
Short codes are a great way to receive SMS messages. A message can be delivered to you for Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), or a message from a service that offers you an order.
How do I determine what phone numbers are associated with an SMS message?
You can access this information by clicking or tapping the information button placed next to the recipient’s number or name when viewing an SMS conversation.
Which phone numbers can I use to send/receive SMS messages?
Your direct phone number can only be used if it is assigned to you by the US or Canada. You can also use phone numbers associated with a call queue or automatic receptionist (other than the main company number) if they are enabled by the admin.
Messages sent or received by SMS can’t be sent or received by you at the following numbers:
-
BYOC phone numbers
-
Shared line group phone numbers
If I have multiple direct phone numbers, how do I select the desired number to send a message?
There is a drop-down menu above the text box where you can choose from a variety of phone numbers when composing a new SMS message.
As far as existing SMS conversations are concerned, you will not be able to change your phone number. To change your phone number, you will need to compose a new SMS message.
Can I send an SMS message to a group?
Up to ten phone numbers can be included in an SMS message that you send to them.
Can I use my international phone number to send SMS messages?
Unfortunately, not at the moment. From phone numbers in the United States and Canada, you can only send a message.
Can I use my toll-free numbers for SMS ?
As of right now, no. There is no SMS support for toll-free numbers, so you cannot send or receive text messages with these numbers. The future version of the application will be able to support this feature as well.
Can I send messages to an international number?
There is an option that administrators can enable so that certain countries/regions are able to send and receive SMS messages. International messages will be metered according to the table that outlines the rates for sending messages to international numbers.
If you would like to know more about Zoom Phone, please contact your administrator.
Can I send messages from auto receptionist and call queue phone numbers?
It is possible, as long as your administrator has enabled it. This feature requires the following prerequisites for it to work. You can learn more about them here.
How long does it take to activate a new phone number?
We recommend that you allow up to two hours after adding a number to your account for your phone number to become functional and active.
What should I do if I’m not receiving messages on my direct phone number from select carriers?
Please contact Zoom support if the phone number has not been added to your account within the last two hours following the addition of the phone number.
What is the character limit for SMS messages?
If you use Zoom’s desktop or mobile client, you are able to send messages up to 500 characters long.
