Getting started with Zoom on Echo Show
The Echo Show 8 and 10 are now compatible with Zoom for Home. Meetings can be started with Alexa by simply saying “Alexa, join my meeting.” This functionality is available to all Zoom users and does not require additional licensing.
Prerequisites for using Zoom for Echo
- Devices supported:
- The Echo Show 8 from the first and second generations
- and the Echo Show 10 (third generation).
Note: - Amazon/Alexa accounts must be created in the US (amazon.com) and set to use US English as the Alexa language for these devices
- logged in to the Alexa app
- via Zoom (optional).

How to set up Zoom for Echo Show
Setup process overview
- Install the Alexa app on your mobile device.
- Integrate your calendar with the Alexa app. This is recommended.
- Set up your Alexa account with your Echo Show.
- Use your Echo Show to access Zoom. Recommendable.
How to download the Alexa app on a mobile device
Install the Alexa app on your mobile device by following the instructions here. Log in or create a new account.
How to connect your calendar in the Alexa app
Connecting your calendar to the Alexa app will allow you to easily join meetings. By saying, “Alexa, start my Zoom meeting,” you will be able to ask Alexa to begin your Zoom meeting.
Choose the calendar that you want to use for Zoom meetings. In the Alexa app, you can integrate your calendar by following these steps:
- Alexa should now be open.
- Tap More and then Settings.
- Select Calendar & Email.
- Choose your account provider, and then tap Connect Account.
- A link will appear on the screen. Continue to link other calendars as well.
Note:
You can access your calendar using Alexa if you link your calendar account. Your calendar content may be accessible to anyone with an Alexa device.
Any Google Calendar subscriptions that you subscribe to are also enabled by default by Alexa. If you do not wish to join meetings from any calendars, make sure they are disabled.

How to log in to Zoom on your Echo Show
For the best experience, sign in to the Zoom for Home app if you have a Zoom account. You can sign in by saying “Alexa, open the Zoom app” and following the Zoom for Home setup instructions here.
How to use Zoom on Echo Show
Three methods are available for joining meetings on the Echo Show:
- When you provide the meeting ID
- associated with Alexa, Alexa will provide the details of the meeting
- according to your Zoom calendar
Joining meetings without signing in
By saying “Alexa, join my Zoom meeting” you can ask Alexa to join a meeting by providing the meeting ID and passcode. After one attempt, if Alexa cannot determine your meeting ID and passcode, the Zoom for Home app will open so that you can manually join your meeting from the controller.
Meeting IDs with alphanumeric characters cannot be detected.
Connecting your calendar to Alexa for meeting joining
By asking Alexa, “Alexa, join my meeting,” you can join upcoming Zoom meetings if your calendar is linked with Alexa. Alexa will parse the join details from your calendar and start the meeting for you.
Accessing your Zoom account calendar to join meetings
Once you have signed in to the Zoom for Home app on your Echo Show 8, your upcoming meetings will be displayed on the touchscreen as soon as you open the Zoom app by saying “Alexa, open Zoom.” You can join a meeting by touching the join button on the touchscreen.

- Which devices are supported?
As of today, the Echo Show 8 (1st and 2nd generations) and Echo Show 10 (3rd generation) can participate in video meetings, although other Echo devices can only join meetings via audio. - What happens if someone tries to join a meeting without a Zoom account?
Alexa will participate anonymously in the meeting and pass the name of the household member identified by voice or the name associated with the account. - What voice commands are supported for Zoom meetings?
- “Start my Zoom meeting”, “Begin my Zoom appointment”, “Join my Zoom call”, “Start my Zoom class”, “Join my Zoom Meeting”, “Start my next meeting”, “Join the meeting”.
- To end/leave a Zoom meeting, use the following commands: “end Zoom call”, “end Zoom meeting”, “end meeting”, “end call”, “hang up”.
- The following voice commands do not work: “Join my next Zoom Meeting”, “Leave Meeting”
- What name will be presented in the Zoom meeting when I join through an Echo Show device?
You will see your account name if you are logged in to Zoom for Home on the device. Zoom will pass the speaker name to the meeting if you are not signed in, but you have an Alexa voice profile and Alexa can identify your voice. The name on your Alexa account will be passed to the Zoom meeting roster if you are not logged into Zoom, do not have a voice profile set up or Alexa cannot identify your voice. - How do I mute my audio while in a meeting?
During a meeting, you can mute your microphone by pressing the microphone off button on the Zoom app or the privacy button on your device. During a meeting, you can mute both your audio and video. - How do I mute my video while in a meeting?
During a meeting, you can mute your video by pressing the video off button on the Zoom app, pressing the privacy button, or closing the privacy shutter on the device. - What countries and languages are supported?
For customers using US English as their language for Alexa, this feature is initially only available. - Can I use headphones with the Echo device?
Currently, the Zoom app does not support wired headphones with the Echo Show 8 devices.
Known issues
- Some users may need to manually enter the meeting passcode on Echo Show if Echo Show is unable to parse the meeting passcode.
