Handing off a phone call to a Zoom Room

When you use Zoom Phone to make a call, you are able to easily hand off the call to a Zoom Room if you wish. You can use the Zoom Room to take advantage of a hands-free calling experience if you are on the Zoom mobile app, then walk into a Zoom Room, which is set up as a booth, where you can take advantage of a hands-free calling experience while on the Zoom mobile app.

Prerequisites for handing off a phone call to a Zoom Room

• Zoom mobile app for Android or iOS, 5.4.3 or higher

• Zoom Phone license assigned to the Zoom Room

• Direct sharing using ultrasonic proximity signal enabled

• Hand Off to Room policy setting enabled by your admin

How to hand off a phone call to a Zoom Room

1. Using the Zoom mobile app, sign in to your account.

2. Zoom Phone enables you to make and receive phone calls.

3. In the Zoom Room, you can use the in-call controls to tap the More button, then tap Hand off to Room to complete the hand-off process.
   As soon as Zoom detects that a room is available, it will attempt to share it directly with you.
   There is a possibility that Zoom will not be able to detect the room and you will have to enter the room’s sharing key which can usually be found in the top-right corner of the room display if Zoom cannot detect the room.

4. You can complete the handoff by tapping the Hand off to This Room button.
   Upon the end of the phone call, the call will be transferred to the Zoom Room within the mobile app. In order to access the in-call controls, you will need to use the room controller.

• Decline: The handoff should be declined. Meeting room remains. As long as the mobile app is open, the call will continue.

• Hold meeting audio & Accept: In order to accept the hand off, the meeting audio will be put on hold.

  • The top-left corner of the room controller contains a button that allows you to switch to the meeting audio by tapping Back to Meeting.

  • The room controller has a phone icon in the top-right corner, which you can tap in order to switch to the phone call.
