Hot keys and keyboard shortcuts in zoom App
The Zoom settings can be navigated using keyboard shortcuts rather than your mouse. Zoom’s desktop client includes keyboard shortcuts in its settings, under Keyboard Shortcuts. These are described in this article.
Prerequisites for hot keys and keyboard shortcuts
- You will need Zoom 5.2.0 or higher to use it on Windows, macOS, or Linux
- Zoom App for iPad or iPhone with version 4.4.5 (55341.0715) or higher using Zoom for iOS (iPad)
Windows
The Keyboard Shortcuts settings allow you to view and edit shortcuts.
- Connect to Zoom’s desktop client.
- Navigate to Settings by clicking your profile picture.
- Find the Keyboard Shortcuts section.
- Click on the keyboard shortcut you want.
Editing shortcuts
Click the shortcut and then press the key you wish to use to edit the shortcut.
These shortcuts will work even when Zoom is not focused, because some of them can be used as global shortcuts. Select the option next to the shortcut to enable the global shortcut.
Available shortcuts
General
- Item 6:
- Zoom in and out of popup windows.
- Ctrl+Alt+Shift:
- Zoom’s meeting functionality will be displayed
Meeting
- PageUp:
- Watch the previous 25 video streams
- PageDown:
- Watch the next 25 video streams in gallery view
- Alt:
- In the Meeting controls section, make sure Always show meeting controls is checked or unticked from the checkbox
- Alt+F1:
- In a video meeting, switch to the active speaker window
- Alt+F2:
- Change the video view to a gallery in a video conference
- Alt+F4:
- Shut down the current session
- Alt+V:
- Play/pause the video
- Alt+A:
- Mutes/Unmutes the audio
- Alt+M:
- Make the host the only one who hears the audio.
Note: - Only the host can hear the audio.
- Alt+S:
- Launch the screen share and shut it down.
Note: - You must have focus on the meeting control toolbar to make this work.
- Alt+Shift+S:
- Share the screen.
Note: - You can only share the screen when the meeting control toolbar is focused
- Alt+T:
- You can pause or resume screen sharing at any time
Note: - You can only do this when there is focus on the meeting control toolbar
- Alt+R:
- Record local audio/video
- Alt+C:
- Play/pause cloud recordings
- Alt+P:
- Play/pause cloud recordings
- Alt+N:
- Change the camera
- Alt+F:
- Go into full screen mode or exit it
- Alt+H:
- The chat panel can be displayed or hidden in the meeting
- Alt+U:
- The panel can be displayed or hidden
- Alt+I:
- Display the invitation window
- Alt+Y:
- Raise your hand or lower it
- Alt+Shift+R:
- Access the remote
- Alt+Shift+G:
- Turn off the remote
- Ctrl+2:
- Find out what speaker is active
- Ctrl+Alt+Shift+H:
- You can show or hide the floating meeting controls by pressing the key combination
- Alt+Q:
- Display prompt for ending or leaving the meeting.
Chat

- Terminate the chat session that is currently open
- Ctrl+Up:

- Click on the next tab to go to that one.

- Select the previous tab from the left-hand side menu

Phone
- Ctrl+Shift+P:
- Phone number highlighted.
- Ctrl+Shift+A:
- Receive incoming calls.
- Ctrl+Shift+E:
- Terminate the call.
- Ctrl+Shift+D:
- Reject incoming calls.
- Ctrl+Shift+M:
- Unmute or mute your microphone.
- Ctrl+Shift+H:
- Hang up/unhook.
MacOS
Accessibility settings include keyboard shortcuts that you can view and edit.
- Log into Zoom on your desktop.
- To change your settings, click on your profile picture.
- From the Keyboard Shortcuts menu, select Edit.
- Click the shortcut button.

Accessibility settings allow you to view all keyboard shortcuts.
- Open Zoom on your desktop.
- Navigate to Settings under your profile picture.
- Choose Accessibility.
Keyboard shortcuts and accessibility settings will appear.

- Go to the General tab of your account and enable the option Always show meeting controls
- Alt+V:
- Toggle the video on and off
- Alt+A:
- Toggle my audio muted or unmuted
- Alt+M:
- The host has the option to mute or unmute audio for everyone else (but not the host).

- Share your screen with others.

- Pausing or resuming screen sharing

- Enable or disable recording locally
