How do I turn live captions & subtitles on during a Skype call?
The live captions and subtitles available in Skype allow you to read the words that are spoken during audio or video calls while you are on the other end. It is currently not possible to use Skype on Android 4.0.4 – 5.1 because live captions and subtitles are not supported.
In Skype, you can enable live captions and subtitles by following these steps:

The Caption button can be selected while you are on an audio or video call if you want to enable live captions.

In order to customize the caption settings, you will need to select the Caption button again:

Language – The language can be changed by selecting the appropriate option.

Always show captions for this conversation – The captions for this chat will always be displayed if you select this option.

Only show captions for other participants – You can choose whether you want captions to be displayed only for participants other than you.

Floating Captions – In the middle of the screen, you can choose to display the captions for the call.

Show on left – To view the captions on the left side of the screen, select the option to show them.

Show on bottom – It is possible to display the captions under the call screen by selecting this option.

The caption history can be viewed during the call if you have Show on the left selected or Show on the bottom selected. During the call, you can scroll through the captions to view the caption history.
