How to Allow an Organization domain with Enterprise mobility management in Slack
Enabling Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM) for Enhanced Security
In today’s mobile-first world, Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM) is a crucial aspect of organizational security. EMM, also known as Mobile Device Management (MDM), empowers organizations to control and secure company data on mobile devices. This guide will walk you through the process of enabling EMM for your organization, ensuring that sensitive business data remains protected.
Allowing an Org Domain with EMM
On the Enterprise Grid subscription, you have the option to only allow access to your org domain when members use your Enterprise mobility management (EMM) app. This setting restricts members from accessing any workspaces outside your organization. To configure this, you’ll need to set a key value pair in AppConfig.
Note: You can only allow access to one org domain in your EMM app.
What Members Can Expect
With this setting enabled, members using an EMM app can only sign in to the approved org. If members need to access workspaces outside their approved org, they can download the Slack app for iOS or Android. If a member is signed in to any outside workspaces in their EMM app when an org owner or admin enables this setting, they will be signed out from their Android device within 24 hours or when they relaunch the app on iOS.

Enabling EMM for Your Org
To enable EMM for your organization, follow these steps:
- Choose an EMM provider: Connect with a Slack for EMM provider to learn more and set up your account.
- Turn on EMM: Contact Slack when you’re ready to activate or change the mobile security settings for your organization.
- Configure additional settings: Enable additional settings for managed mobile devices via key/value pairs in AppConfig.
What Members Can Expect
The Slack for EMM app will be required to be used by members in the event that it is necessary. Members will be able to sign in using their single sign-on credentials after the installation is complete. They are unable to access your company from a device that is not managed, even if it is necessary. In the event that the Slack for EMM app is required, users who are using an unmanaged device will be presented with a page that informs them that they will be required to use a device that has been approved.
Who Can Use This Feature?
This feature is available to Org Owners and Org Admins on the Enterprise Grid plan. EMM provides organizations with the ability to manage and protect company data on mobile devices, thereby guaranteeing that they are in line with certain industry requirements.
Benefits of EMM
EMM offers a wide range of benefits, including:
- Support for different types and forms of devices from a common platform
- Corporate data protection and security
- Regulatory compliance
- Device and data usage reports and analytics
- App store integrations
- Remote security updates
- Application of organizational policies to devices
- Cost savings for organizations with a distributed workforce
