Frequently Asked Questions

The Teams live events feature is an example of an extension of Teams meetings. It allows users to broadcast video of their meetings online to a large audience, extending the reach of their meetings. A live event is a one-to-many communication format in which the event host leads the interaction and audience participation is primarily focused on viewing the content that the host is sharing with the rest of the audience.
Users may confuse the link to the live event attendee link with the link to a new Teams meeting which will have its own meeting link. Whether it is on a desktop (Windows or Mac), web device, or mobile platform, your attendees will be able to watch the event on Teams. A browser (Chrome, Firefox, or Edge) can also be used if they do not have Teams installed.
The amount of people that can be included in Teams’ meetings on a call is 1000, while the number of people that can be included in Teams live events is 10,000. Microsoft’s Education event: Timing and how to watch it live

It will be around 9:30 PM in India when Microsoft’s “Education” event goes live today at 12:00 p.m. ET. On its social media platforms and on YouTube, the company is streaming the event. Microsoft’s official website also allows users to watch the event.

The Allow External Presenters setting needs to be able to be set like in the Teams UX that allows you to allow external presenters.

For a guest to present in a live event, do the following tasks:

  1. Assign the user to a team as a guest.
  2. Join the team after the user accepts the guest invitation.
  3. Add the guest to your event group and schedule the live event.
As a first step, we have confirmed that free account users who do not belong to organizations can become presenters by clicking the URL link for presenters in a particular team in my organization.
Alternatively, you can choose to enable the option of creating Teams public events for your entire organization if you would like to enable the option for your entire organization. In the drop-down menu associated with Who can join scheduled live events in the organization, select the drop-down menu and change the setting to Everyone in the organization.
