Start an instant meeting
A meeting can be started instantly with Microsoft Teams in one of two ways:
- Choose a channel where you would like to meet.
- Under where you would type your reply, select Meet under Reply to keep the context of the conversation.
Join a meeting
As you can see in the video preview for the pre-meeting:
- Then you can adjust your microphone and speaker or switch on your camera and microphone at the same time.
- In order to join the meeting, you will need to give it a name, and select the Join Now button.
Invite others to a meeting
Is there anyone who would be interested in attending your ad-hoc meeting?
- By selecting Show participants, you will be able to invite people at any time you want.
- In the box provided, please enter a name or a phone number.
- When you want to invite someone, select the Request to join button next to their name.
Manage your meeting
Once you are done recording your meeting, you can share your content and the recording of your meeting with participants.
- Select the More actions tab, then select Start recording when you are ready to record a meeting.
- To share content, click the Share content option on the left side of your screen, and then select what you would like to share, such as your screen, an open window, or a PowerPoint presentation.
- You can find the recording of the meeting in Teams where you started the meeting when it was recorded. This recording can be viewed, edited, and shared with others if you wish to do so.

How do you join a team without waiting in a lobby?
You will notice that there is a toggle next to Always allow callers to bypass the lobby. In this setting, people who wish to join your meeting over the phone won’t have to wait for someone to admit them to your meeting when you have this setting enabled. It can be turned on or off by selecting the toggle switch.
How do you automatically start a Teams meeting?
When the meeting invitation is sent, the meeting organizer sets the meeting options. The importance of this cannot be overstated. The meeting invite should be edited and the meeting options opened as soon as it has been sent. You can then turn on automatic recording.
Can I join a Teams meeting without downloading it?
