If you are joining a Teams meeting, you have the option to mute your microphone to prevent any unwanted noise from entering the meeting, or you may unmute your mic so that you can participate in it.

Mute or unmute before a meeting
By clicking on the toggle next to Mic on the right side of your screen before joining a meeting, you will be able to turn your microphone on and off.
Mute or unmute during a meeting
To turn on your microphone during a meeting, you should select the Mic option under the meeting controls section that can be found on the upper-right corner of your screen. In order to mute yourself, you will need to click on Mic again after you have muted your mic.
Use Ctrl+Spacebar to unmute
You can also set the Teams desktop app to be muted if you wish to avoid interruptions or disruptions from other participants, and this will allow you to be able to respond quickly if being called upon during a meeting. When you wish to have your computer unmuted quickly, press the keys Windows + Spacebar, followed by Mac + Spacebar simultaneously while you hold down the keys both keys.
