How to share a recorded video with sound during your Zoom meeting
With the built-in video player for shared content, sharing a video clip is easier than ever. Zoom’s video player allows you to share video files without sharing playback controls with other participants. The built-in player is better for sharing videos than using a shared screen or application, providing viewers with a smoother and more stable watching experience.
Sharing a video from a video sharing site requires optimizing your screen.

This feature automatically enables Optimize for video clip, which improves framerate by restricting and downscaling the resolution to 1080/720 in order to improve video sharing. Manually disabling this will allow for higher resolutions, but this should only be used when framerate is not a major concern.
-
The desktop client must be open for this option to appear.
How to use the playback controls
Other meeting participants will not be able to see your playback controls when you are sharing the video. Controls will be available to the sharer:
-
Play/Pause: Playback of the video can be started or paused at any time.
-
Elapsed time/total video length: Provides information about the current elapsed time, as well as the total length of the video file, as well as the current elapsed time.
-
Playback slider: Skips to another point in the video playback range so that you can view the video from another angle
-
Volume: During the sharing of a video, you can adjust the volume to make sure it is loud enough for you.
-
Fullscreen: Makes it easy for you and your viewers to enjoy the video in full-screen mode.
How video sharing compares to other sharing options
Video resolutions vary based on CPU usage, screen resolution, graphics card, and OS graphic system capabilities when sharing a desktop or application. Additionally, Zoom automatically lowers the resolution of videos larger than 1080p to 1080p (or 720p), so as to optimize content and minimize bandwidth needs. A video share may require additional CPU resources depending on how it is shared, such as sharing only a portion of a screen or sharing a specific application, which can adversely affect both the video and the meeting for the user who shares.
Video sharing allows Zoom to encode directly from files and share them directly, effectively circumventing some limitations of standard content sharing. The Zoom client can handle encoding and sharing, meaning it can play video at a higher frame rate and with a smoother experience.
