How to Share computer sound in Meeting or live event in Microsoft Teams
Desktop
Make sure the computer sound is included
During your meeting, there will be a switch that sits on the upper left hand side of your sharing controls which you can use to use the sound that is coming from your computer. It is easy to add computer sound to your meeting by selecting the Include computer sound option in the control panel and clicking the Share content option.
In the event that you choose to share, all audio coming from your computer, including any notifications, will be included in the meeting, along with any audio from your computer which will be shared.
For the first time you include computer audio in a Teams meeting on a Mac, you will need to install a driver first. Click the Install or Update button at the bottom of the wizard and follow the simple instructions. As soon as the installation has been completed, it will take about ten seconds.
The notification will appear at the top of your meeting controls as soon as the driver is installed on your Mac. In order to install your driver correctly, you may need to pause or play your video content again if you are having problems with the installation, or you might need to try to switch the Include computer sound switch on the top left of your sharing options again if the driver is not installing properly.
It is possible to optionally choose to include sound in the screen sharing process after you have already started sharing your screen (or whether you wish to stop including sound in the screen sharing process). There is an option near the top of the window that allows you to include computer sound in the sharing controls.
You can stop sharing sounds by tapping the button again.
Include computer sound in a room with a Teams device
With a Team device, other members of the team will be able to share content with you through a wired connection to the console of the room where you can share content with them. The sharing of computer sound through this method is not yet supported by us, unfortunately.
When you are trying to share computer audio in a meeting room with a Team device, the following steps must be taken in order to make it work:
- Whenever you join a meeting from a team member’s device, please make sure you turn off the audio feature on the device as soon as you begin joining the meeting. This will automatically muffle not only your microphone, but also the audio that is playing as part of the meeting from the other team, thus ensuring that there are no echoes.
- In your meeting controls, select Include computer sound in the Share content section, and then click on Share content.
There is a possibility that your computer may experience problems with sound quality if it is running a lot of applications at once, such as lags or cutting out. It may help if you close other applications if you encounter this problem. If you are using Windows, then your audio device (like your notification or alert system) will be reduced in volume when you join a Teams meeting, even if other sounds (such as notifications and alerts) are coming from your device. There are times when you will want to do that in order to be able to focus on the meeting and not spend too much time worrying about other things. When you’re sharing computer sound with another person, however, then the same setting that’s quieting other system sounds will also help you quiet the audio you’re trying to share with them if that same setting is also quieting the audio your computer is playing. In order to fix this issue, you need to navigate to the Sound Control Panel found in your system’s settings, select Communications, and then click Do nothing to close the Sound Control Panel. In the event that you make the changes, you should enjoy clear, loud and clear sound when you have applied them once you have made the changes. Several moments after the audio has been transmitted, you will be able to hear the audio through your computer speakers in the meeting, and you will see a notification on your screen which will confirm that the audio has been sent and received in the meeting as well. You can stop the sound from your tab or computer from being shared by using the stop screensharing button located on the bottom of the screen sharing toolbar.
