How to Show or hide a team or channel in Microsoft Teams

A team or channel can be viewed in three different ways: by showing, hiding, or pinning them.

Show a team or channel

The new team you join will be automatically added to your list of teams as soon as you join it. You may not be able to see a team that you are a member of if you follow these steps:

1. From your Teams list on the left hand side, click on the drop-down menu that appears at the bottom of the list, then select Hidden Teams from the list.
2. Find the team that you are looking for by using the search function.
3. Show more options by selecting the Show more options option.

Hide a team or channel

Using the “Hide this team/channel” button on the team or channel page, you will be able to hide the team/channel from appearing in your list of teams. In this way, you will be able to leave out all the teams and channels you aren’t actively involved with and focus on the teams and channels with which you are actively involved.

Click the More options Hide button in the toolbar next to the name of a team or channel.

The hidden channels menu can also be found beneath the channel listing for a team if you would like to show the channels for that team. Show more options by selecting the Show more options checkbox.

Pin or unpin a channel

It is very convenient to have pinned channels on top of the list so you do not have to search for them.

Click on the name of a channel to get more options, and then select Pin to pin the channel. In this way, no matter what you do, the channel will always maintain its top position in your list regardless of what you do to it. It is quite simple to unpin the item at a later time, you simply need to select it again once you have decided that it needs to be unpinned and then unpin it.

iOS

It is automatically displayed in your teams list when you join a new team. By scrolling down your Teams list all the way to the bottom, you will be able to see all the teams you are a member of if you click on the button that says “Check all teams”.

Show a channel

In order to get to the team list, you simply need to tap Teams and scroll down until you see Teams appear on the screen. To view all the channels that are part of a certain team, select the See all teams tab from the channel’s tab bar. After clicking that tab, select the channel’s team from the list, and then select Show all channels next to the channels you wish to see. When you are done selecting the circle, you can tap it again to make it disappear.

Android

It is automatically displayed in your teams list when you join a new team. By scrolling down your Teams list all the way to the bottom, you will be able to see all the teams you are a member of if you click on the button that says “Check all teams”.

Show a channel

The team list can be found on the bottom of the page if you select Teams and go to the bottom of the page. Then you need to choose the team that the channel is part of, then you have to select the team in which it is a part of, then you have to select the circle next to the channel that you wish to display from the list of channels.

Delete a channel

It is important to go to the Teams tab and then find the name of the team. You will then need to click on the Edit button that is located on the toolbar under More options. In order to delete a channel, you need to tap the More options button that appears next to its name.
