How to Sign in and Get Start with Microsoft Teams

Sign in to Teams

  1. Launch Teams.
    • Microsoft Teams can be accessed from the Start menu in Windows.
    • Click Microsoft Teams in the Applications folder on your Mac.
    • Tap Teams on your mobile device.
  2. Please enter the username and password you used to sign up for Microsoft 365.

Note: The Teams app is a part of Microsoft 365, so if you wish to use it, you need an Enterprise or Business license for Microsoft 365 Apps for Business. I would like to access Microsoft Teams for the first time. How can I do that?

Decide which team you want to work with and what channel you want to use

The idea of a team is to put together a group of people, conversations, files, and tools in one place, all at the same time. There are many types of channels within a team, such as teams with dedicated departments, projects, or topics.

If you want to learn more about teams and channels, the best way to do it is to pick a team or channel and explore it extensively.

  1. Pick a team from the left side of the app by clicking on Teams on the left side of the app.It is possible to create a team if you are not part of one and you wish to join one.
  2. Go to the tabs Conversations, Files, etc., and explore the channel.

Sign in to Teams

  1. Start Teams.
    • In Windows, click Start Start button > Microsoft Teams.
    • On Mac, go to the Applications folder and click Microsoft Teams.
    • On mobile, tap the Teams icon.
  2. Sign in with your Microsoft 365 username and password.

A team is a collection of people, conversations, files, and tools — all in one place. A channel is a discussion in a team, dedicated to a department, project, or topic.

The best way to get familiar with teams and channels is to pick a team and channel and start exploring!

  1. Select Teams Teams button on the left side of the app and then pick a team.If you’re not on a team and want to create one, see Onboard your teams.
