Can you use the zoom host key?
The zoom host key is a PIN with six figures or digits. It functions for the controlling of host meetings. Your host key is visible as well as ready to be edited from your profile. The host keys are primarily required for hosting the scheduled meetings.
You can use the host key for the following situation.
- In the PAC or Personal Audio Conference, it is used for initializing PSTN.
- When you join a meeting from the smartphone.
- For applying the host option for a zoom meeting or for initializing a meeting with SIP/H.323.
- When you have enabled the join before host option. Or for joining as a zoom client.
- When you join with the meeting link or the room meeting room.
- You can see and as a host from the host key when several zooms rooms join a meeting.
Remember.
- Admins can also go to the advanced security settings which will prevent the users from changing the host key.
- In a meeting, a participant can claim to be a host if he has claimed for that and the original host has not joined the meeting. But in case, the original host joins the meeting then he becomes the host and the participant is demoted from the post. And it’s the wish of the original host to make a participant as co-host.
A host key is available for business, education, enterprise, and pro accounts.
Where to claim it using the host key?
- For a zoom mobile app.
- Android 4.6.0 or a more developed version than that.
- iOS 4.6.0 or a better version than that.
- For a zoom desktop client.
- Windows 4.6.0 or a better version than that.
- Mac OS 4.6.0 or a better version than that.
- Linux 3.5.330166.202 or more.
- For a zoom conference room.
- PC 4.6.0 or a better version than that.
- macOS 4.6.0 or a better version than that.
Zoom customization of the host key.
With the below-given steps, you can claim for becoming the host if you join the meeting earlier than the host and join before the host option is enabled.
- Join your zoom meeting.
- Tap on the participants.
- There tap on the claim host option at the bottom of the page or list of participants.
- Input the host key.
- Then tap on the claim host.
If the host key is verified then you will have to leave the host controls in the meeting.
How to claim host with SIP/H.323 device?
You first have to join the meeting through the H.323 device and then input the host key with the dial string. Then in case, join before the host option is on then you have to input the host key from the meeting host menu.
Remember that when you join the meeting with the host key or through pairing then also if you are a participant, other participants can view you as a guest. And because of that, the participants who have joined with the zoom client will see the remainder of the host is not in the meeting yet option even though your device has already joined as a host.
How to join as a host with dial strips?
H.323-
- When the meeting is free of passwords.
For instance- [IP address ] ## [Meeting ID] ## [Host Key].
- Meeting that has a password.
for example- [IP address ] ## [Meeting ID] #[password]#[layout]# [Host Key].
SIP.
- When the meeting is free of passwords.
For instance [meeting is]..[host key]@[ip address]
- Meeting that has a password.
for instance – [meeting is].[password].[host key]@[ip address]
How to claim the host key with PAC?
With a PAC a meeting can be hosted by the meeting host or someone who knows the host key by entering the 6 digits prompted host key. And once the host key is typed, the meeting will start; others can immediately join the meeting. Also, the host has the feature of host controls available using the dial pad.
Claim the host key while starting a cloud recording.
In case, you don’t input the host let at the beginning while joining then you have to enter it while enabling the cloud recording.
