Install the Webex Education Connector in Schoology
This article will provide you with an overview of how to install the Webex Education Connector in Schoology so teachers and students in your organization will have access to scheduling office hours, starting and attending classes, participating in class discussions, sharing files, and collaborating on assignments.
Get Your Current Consumer Key and Your Current Consumer Secret
You will need to have administrator access to both the Webex site and Schoology in order to install the Webex Education Connector in Schoology. SSL certificates must be installed on Schoology’s website in order for it to function.
Before you begin
Firstly, you must configure your Webex Business Site so that the Webex Education Connector can work properly on your site before you can install it.
- Click on the Tools tab in Schoology when you are logged in as an administrator.
- Select the Integration > API option under the School Management section.
Please take note of the consumer key that you are currently using and the consumer secret that you are currently using. There will be a time when you will need to use these.
Configure the Webex Education Connector
Please visit https://lti.educonnector.io/ on your web browser to get started.
Here is the information you need to enter:

Full name—The first and last name you would like to use should be entered here.

Email—You will need to enter the email address of your administrator.

Institution—Your institution’s name should be entered here.

Webex site—The name of your Webex site should be entered here. It is the text before the .webex.com in your Webex URL that represents your site name. If the URL for your site is https://myschool.webex.com/, you should enter myschool in the address bar.

LMS …—Select Schoology The drop-down menu allows you to select from a variety of options.

Schoology Site Domain—Your Schoology site’s URL should be entered in the text box below. Using myschool.schoology.com as an example (remove all the https:// from the URL).

Schoology Consumer Key—If you would like to retrieve your current consumer key and secret, enter the key that was given to you in Step 2.

Schoology Secret Key—If you would like to retrieve your current consumer key and secret, enter the key that was given to you in Step 2.

Schoology Site Timezone—From the drop-down list, you can choose what time zone your Schoology site is in.
As soon as you click on Next, a screen will appear providing you with your Consumer Key, your Shared Secret, and Your LTI Registration URL. Make sure you take note of this information. There will be a time when you will need them.
Configure Your Schoology Site
As an administrator, you can access Schoology by logging into your account and clicking the Tools tab.
Choose Integration > External Tools from the School Management section and then click on Add External Tool Provider in the External Tools section.
Here is the information you need to enter:

Tool Name—If you want to call Webex something else, then enter that as well.

Consumer Key—In Step 3 of Configuring the Webex Education Connector, you are going to enter your consumer key.

Shared Secret—In Configure the Webex Education Connector step 3 you were asked to enter the shared secret we provided for you.

Privacy—In the Send Name field, please enter the name of the user and his/her email address/username.

Configuration Type—Make sure that Manual is selected.

Match—Please select the URL from the list.

Domain/URL—If you are configuring Webex Education Connector for Webex, please enter the LTI URL that you received in Step 5 below.
Please click the Submit button.
Install the Schoology LTI App in a Course
Follow these steps for each course where you’d like to add the Webex Education Connector.
Sign in to Schoology as a course administrator and navigate to the course that you want to add the Webex Education Connector to.
Click on Materials > Add Materials > Add File/Link/External Tool to add a file or link.
Add the following to the External Tool by choosing it and clicking on it:

Tool Provider—During the Configure Your Schoology Site step in Step 3 you were asked to choose a name for your site.

Title—The name of the tool that you want it to appear as in the course should be entered here.
Please click the Submit button.
The app will be installed in the course once you have submitted the form.
The Webex Education Connector can be accessed by clicking the name of the tool under Materials and then clicking the title of the tool.
On the Setup tab, click Authorize with LMS to go to the section where you can authorize your LMS; then click Authorize and follow the instructions on your screen.
When you click Go to the Admin Console from the instructor configuration page, you will have the option of selecting from a list of site-wide features for instructor configuration.
The Setup tab will return to its original location once you click Back to save your changes.
