How to install the Webex Education Connector in Blackboard
Install and configure the Webex Education Connector in Blackboard Learn or Blackboard Learn with Ultra Experience in order to allow students and teachers to begin and attend classes, participate in class discussions, share files, and schedule office hours.
Configure the Webex Education Connector
In order to successfully install the Webex Education Connector in Blackboard Learn release 3400.5.0-rel.12+393c117, please refer to the instructions listed below. In order to finish the installation, you will need to have both the Blackboard Administrator and the Webex Site Administrator roles. Make sure that any courses you are taking are seen in the Ultra Course View if you are using Blackboard Learn with Ultra Experience.
Before you begin
You will first need to configure your Webex site so that it is compatible with the Webex Education Connector before you can proceed with the installation of the Webex Education Connector.
1. Open up a new tab or window in your computer browser and navigate to https://lti.educonnector.io/.
2. Fill in the blanks with the following information:
- Email—Enter your administrator email address.
- Institution — Please enter the name of your academic establishment here.
- Webex site—Enter your Webex site name.
Your site name is the text that appears in the address bar of your Webex site before the dot-com extension. Enter myschool in this field if the address of your site is https://myschool.webex.com/.
- LMS—From the drop-down menu, select Blackboard, and then from the options that appear, choose either Blackboard Learn or Blackboard Ultra.
- Enter the address of your Blackboard Learn site in the box labeled “Blackboard Site Domain.” For instance, if the address of your website is https://myschool.bblearn.com, you would enter myschool.bblearn.com in this field.
Choose the appropriate time zone for your Blackboard Learn site using the “Blackboard Site Timezone” drop-down menu.
4. Click the Next button, then make a note of the values that are displayed for Your Consumer Key, Your Shared Secret, Your Application ID, and LTI Launch URL so that you can make use of them in the future.
Configure Your Blackboard Site
- Log in to Blackboard using the administrator account you created, and then click the Admin button.
2. Navigate to the area labeled Integrations, choose REST API Integrations, and then click the Create Integration button.
3. Fill in the blanks with the following information:
Application ID — Enter the Application ID that was provided to you in Step 3 of the configuration process for the Webex Education Connector.
- Learn User—Enter the username for the administrator here.
- Choose Yes if you want access as a final user.
- Select “No” for the “Authorized to Act as User” option in the “Service Default” drop-down menu.
4. Click Submit.
5. Go to the LTI Tool Provider menu, then go to the Register LTI 1.1 Provider menu, and then enter the following information:
- Enter lti.educonnector.io in the Provider Domain field.
- Choose the Approved option for the Provider Domain Status.
- Select Globally under the Default Configuration.
- Enter the Consumer Key that you obtained in Step 3 of the Configure the Webex Education Connector process as the Tool Provider Key.
- Enter Your Shared Secret that you created in Step 3 of Configuring the Webex Education Connector in the Tool Provider Secret field.
- Send Data from Users — Choose Send user data through SSL.
- User Fields to Send — Select the Appropriate Option from the Following List:
- Function in the Process
- Name
- Adresse électronique
- Choose the option that says “Yes” to allow access to the membership service.
6. Proceed to the LTI Tool Provider website. The first step is to click the Create Placement button after choosing Manage Placements from the drop-down menu.
7. Fill in the blanks with the following information:
- Choose to label it as Webex.
- Handle—Enter Webex.
- Availability: Choose the option “Yes.”
- Select the Course Tool, then make sure the box next to Allow Student Access is checked.
- Tool Provider URL—Enter https://lti.educonnector.io/launches.
8. Click Submit.
Authorize the Webex Education Connector in Blackboard Learn
1. To open the Webex Education Connector, first navigate to a course and then pick Tools > Webex from the menu bar.
2. From the Setup tab, navigate to the Authorize with LMS section, click the Authorize button, and then follow the instructions that appear on the screen.

- When you are in the appropriate Blackboard course, go to the Books & Tools menu and pick Webex.
- To open the Webex Education Connector, select Webex from the selection that is presented to you.
- From the Setup tab, navigate to the Authorize with LMS section, click the Authorize button, and then adhere to the instructions that appear on the screen.
