Instant meetings and scheduled meetings are two types of meetings.
It is now possible to start an instant meeting, and you can then invite other participants to join the meeting at any time. This allows you to begin a meeting right away, at your convenience. During the chat with your contact or another channel, you can either click the video camera, with Meet with Video optionally selected, or click the New Meeting button from the main dialog box.
You may schedule a future meeting – either as a one-time meeting or as a recurring meeting – so that you can decide when it will be held. It is possible to schedule future meetings either by opening your calendar (or manually opening the calendar of any contact) or by sending an email invitation to create the meeting. By using these methods, you will be able to schedule a meeting time/date and invite others to join you for your scheduled meeting.
The following topics will be covered in this article:
- Scheduled meetings
- Instant meetings
You can schedule a future meeting either as a one-time meeting or as a recurring one. You can schedule a meeting in a variety of ways. Alternatively, you can send out an email invitation ahead of time to invite your participants and include the invitation on a calendar. See the How to Schedule a Meeting guide for more information.
With these methods, you can start a meeting immediately. In this meeting, you can invite anyone to join you at any time and the meeting will start instantly. You will be given a Personal Meeting ID that you can use as the meeting ID for instant meetings.
An instant meeting can be started by following these steps:
- On the home tab of the Zoom client, click the New Meeting button.
Clicking the downward arrow will give you the option of starting an instant meeting right away.
- You can start an instant meeting by clicking the video camera when you are in a chat with someone or another channel.
There is also an option to click the down arrow for instant meetings.
- When you are logged into your Zoom account, click Host a Meeting on the website.
Whenever you start a meeting from the Zoom desktop client, Zoom mobile app, or Zoom website, your instant meeting ID will expire the moment the meeting is over. In the API, instant meeting IDs will expire after 24 – 48 hours unless they are rescheduled through the API
