Jabber | Quote a Message
You may quote another person’s message and then answer directly to their comment if you feel the need to provide further context to a message to which you are responding. When you reply to a message that has been quoted, the quoted message displays the person’s name and indents their original statement.

If you quote files, GIFs, or photos in your message, they won’t be displayed, but you will see the file type that was shared in the original message. This applies only if you quote the content.
You are only permitted to insert a single quote at a time in your draft message, and you are unable to quote block quotes. If you are quoting a message that already has formatted text, the formatting of that text will not be displayed in the composing space; however, it will be visible when the message is sent.
