K-12 School Time Limit Removal Request FAQ In Zoom App
Update for December 2021: Zoom no longer accepts new requests for the lifting of the meeting time limit for free Basic accounts. However, Zoom will continue to raise the 40-minute time limit in most countries on existing accounts through June 30, 2022 in support of primary and secondary education (K-12) and due to the ongoing pandemic.
In this article, Zoom’s program will be described in detail and how the 40-minute time limit can be lifted. K-12 schools in select countries that have been closed due to Coronavirus are covered by this request. For more information about this program and which countries qualify, please see our blog post.
The following FAQs will help you determine your eligibility and request to have your limits lifted.
Who is eligible?
K-12 schools that have been affected by school closures due to COVID-19 (or its equivalent in a non-US country). Please see our Online Learning blog post for the most up-to-date list of eligible countries.
Who needs to submit a request to have the limits lifted?
When requesting, a school email address must be used. We cannot accept requests from personal email addresses such as Gmail, Yahoo, or Outlook.
Per domain, only one request is required. Using the example above, if your email address is admin@k12school.org, once it is approved, the limit for Zoom accounts will be lifted once your email address has been approved.
How will I know if the limit has been lifted?
When you log into your settings page from any browser, you will see a banner similar to the one below if the limits have been lifted.
How long will it take to get approved?
It can take up to 72 hours for the request to be approved.
Where can I stay up to date on any changes to this program?
Changes to the program will be posted on our Online Learning blog.
Is there any way to use Clever and Zoom together?

I’m not a K-12 school but would like the time limit lifted for my organization, is that possible?
As of now, the 40-minute limit is only being lifted in select countries for K-12 schools. Zoom’s existing basic license (free) still includes many features, such as screen sharing, whiteboards, breakout rooms, and more. Meetings can accommodate up to 100 people. Meetings with 3 or more participants (including the host) have a 40-minute time limit. As soon as you reach this limit, you can start another meeting.
