Keep your media on Video Mesh for all external Webex meetings
When your media is processed by your local Video Mesh nodes, the performance is improved, and you use less of the available bandwidth on the internet.
Use your Video Mesh for all external Webex meetings
In earlier iterations, you were only able to exercise control over the use of Video Mesh for meetings at your own internal sites. When it came to meetings that were held on external Webex sites, those sites determined whether or not Video Mesh may cascade to Webex. Your media would always use the Webex cloud nodes wherever possible, even if an external site did not permit Video Mesh cascades.
If your Webex site has available Video Mesh nodes and you have the setting to “Prefer Video Mesh for All External Webex Meetings,” then all of your media will be routed through those nodes for any meetings that take place on other sites. This table provides a concise summary of the actions that your participants do while entering Webex meetings:
Setting is… | Meeting on internal Webex site with Video Mesh cascades enabled | Meeting on internal Webex site with Video Mesh cascades disabled | Meeting on external Webex site with Video Mesh cascades enabled | Meeting on external Webex site with Video Mesh cascades disabled |
---|---|---|---|---|
Enabled | Media uses your Video Mesh nodes. | Media uses cloud nodes. | Media uses your Video Mesh nodes. | Media uses your Video Mesh nodes. |
Disabled | Media uses your Video Mesh nodes. | Media uses cloud nodes. | Media uses your Video Mesh nodes. | Media uses cloud nodes. |
This option is turned off by default, which preserves the functionality of earlier releases of the software. During those releases, your Video Mesh did not cascade to Webex, and all of your participants joined by utilizing the Webex cloud nodes.
