Known Issues and Limitations for Site Administration in webex
Known Issues and Limitations for Site Administration
Branding and customization
-
Branded headers cannot be smaller than 75 pixels in the new Webex header. Branded sites that have a header height less than 75 pixels are automatically increased to 75 pixels if they do not have customized header HTML code.
-
If the header navigation color is blue or dark, the Log in and Log out links are hidden.
Your customer support manager (CSM) should be contacted if you wish to change your branding.
Safari browser support
Mac Site Administration does not support the Safari browser.
CMR Hybrid (Webex-enabled TelePresence) meetings
Hybrid meetings using Webex (enabled by TelePresence) have the following issues:
-
The following site administration options should be set for CMR Hybrid users to reduce the risk of bandwidth issues for video:
-
Choose Automatically encrypted UDP/TCP SSL whenever connecting through Webex VoIP or video.
-
Make sure the maximum video bandwidth option is checked under Site Settings > Site Options. For in-meeting video, this is how you set the maximum frame rate. 15 frames per second is the default setting.
-
The Enable TelePresence bandwidth control setting needs to be checked under “OneTouch TelePresence Options,” unless Webex Support recommends changing it.
-
Ensure that the “High-definition video” option is enabled under “Meeting Options.”
On the Cisco TelePresence Management Suite (TMS) Configuration Guides page, see “Prerequisites” for more information about recommended bandwidth configuration settings for CMR Hybrid meetings.
-
-
You should also make sure that your site is enabled for the TelePresence session type of Webex Meetings PRO:
-
Using the Webex Productivity Tools integration with Microsoft Outlook, users will see a different user interface for Webex Meetings PRO TelePresence sessions.
-
The Webex Meetings Pro TelePresence session type is not automatically enabled for existing CMR Hybrid users on your site. You must batch-enable them for it.
-
Default for New Users is checked by default when CMR Hybrid is enabled on your site next to TelePresence Sessions. Default for New Users should be unchecked if you don’t want new users to be automatically enabled for CMR Hybrid.
-
Additionally, Webex Meetings and TelePresence session types can be customized.
-
-
Webex Productivity Tools’ CMR Hybrid user interface cannot be modified by site administrators. A user cannot change the branding of the CMR Hybrid Meeting Options panel within the Outlook integration, nor hide information within the Meeting Options panel, or in the Advanced Settings dialog box for TelePresence or Webex, nor can administrators limit the number of participants that can participate in a video call-in call.
-
Despite the fact that CMR Hybrid meetings support basic sharing features such as screen sharing, application sharing, and annotation sharing, some standard sharing features, such as file sharing, annotation sharing, and whiteboard sharing, are not supported in CMR Hybrid meetings.
-
CMR Hybrid meetings are supported and can be recorded, however, there are some known limitations and issues that must be addressed in order to make it work:
-
We will be able to record CMR Hybrid meetings in MP4 format. It is planned to record the video in 360p resolution.
-
A recording can be played back by users so they can view screen sharing, application sharing, activity feeds for active speakers with cameras, the participant list, chats, and polls when they play back the recording. However, if users choose to download the recordings, then the screen sharing portion, the application sharing portion, and the audio portion are all contained in one MP4, which does not include video camera feeds from active speakers, participant lists, chats, or polls that take place.
In the Frequently Asked Questions section of WebEx Meetings, you can find information about recording and playingback CMR Hybrid meetings as well as recording and playingback standalone meetings.

As a result of not having adequate bandwidth, a presentation and data sharing in a Webex video conference and a CMR Hybrid meeting will degrade to XGA (1024 x 768 resolution) and 5 frames per second. There is a “letterbox” format that users are able to access when they are using TelePresence systems. In both 4:3 and 16:9 TelePresence systems, data sharing is supported using 720 p resolution as long as all participants have a minimum of 2 megabits per second. This allows the shared data to cover the whole screen without cropping on both TelePresence systems. TelePresence Server 4.1 is now supported with 1080p resolution provided all participants have a minimum download speed of 3 Mbps and are using Conductor XC 3.0. All participants in the meeting will be forced to use the next lowest data sharing resolution level if any participant in the meeting does not have the minimum bandwidth. The meeting resolution will be reduced to 720p for all participants if one participant’s bandwidth is below the threshold, such as when the resolution is set to 720p, but one participant’s bandwidth is below that threshold. The data sharing resolution can be reduced to 720 p if one of the participants does not have at least 3 Mbps, depending on the version of TelePresence Server 4.1 and Conductor XC 3.0 being used. Therefore, 1080 p would normally be supported if TelePresence Server 4.1 and Conductor XC 3.0 are being used. The presentation and data sharing quality from TelePresence system to TelePresence system does not change, and the resolution is based on TelePresence Server or Cisco TelePresence MCU series settings. Webex applications provide good quality presentations and data sharing when they are used with other Webex applications. For Webex-only meetings that use a proprietary data rendering format, these limitations regarding presentation quality and the sharing of data do not apply.
Webex Meetings Video Compatibility and Support provides a list of video systems and applications that are compatible with Webex Meetings.
-
In CMR Hybrid meetings, the presentation of a screen (formerly known as “desktop sharing”) and the sharing of applications are available, but some standard features, such as document sharing, annotations, and sharing of a whiteboard, are not available.
-
In order to become part of a CMR Hybrid meeting in a timely manner, administrators can configure Cisco TelePresence Management Suite (Cisco TMS) to allow TelePresence participants to join a meeting up to five minutes before the scheduled start time. The first TelePresence participant needs to dial into the meeting before TelePresence can join the meeting. Until the scheduled start time of the meeting, Cisco TMS will not dial up to Webex to begin the meeting. On the Cisco TelePresence Management Suite (TMS) Configuration Guide page, there is a paragraph entitled “Configuring Allow Early Join” which explains how to configure this feature under “Configuring Conference Settings in Cisco TMS” on the Cisco Collaboration Meeting Rooms (CMR) Hybrid Configuration Guide.
-
There is no support for “VoIP only” audio in CMR Hybrid meetings.
-
To schedule a large CMR Hybrid meeting, administrators have to set up a capacity limit before scheduling the meeting. Both Webex and TelePresence can be muted in order to muffle everyone except the speaker, as follows:
-
Using the host’s Webex application, the Webex participant can be muted from the host’s screen.
-
Depending on the TelePresence hardware, the host may be able to mute other participants; however, in some TelePresence systems, the administrator will be able to mute participants via TelePresence Server.
