Known issues and limitations for Webex video
As a result of the cascade link between the device and the client, the Meeting Client, in spite of being capable of receiving 1440p5, 1080p12, or 720p30, is limited to 10 frames per second. Wireless and wired connections are both subject to this limitation.
Webex video platform version 2 known issues
The following instructions apply to only the Cloud Collaboration Meeting Room site options that provide a list of Media Resource Types for Webex Meetings sites. For more information, please get in touch with your administrator.
H.264 video codec required for content sharing
A video codec known as H.264 is the only one that is supported for content sharing. Content sharing will not be possible with older video systems that do not support H.264 codec and do not support the H.264 codec.
In-meeting video thumbnail experience
There are a maximum of six streams that can be cascaded together in a Webex Meeting at one time, either in one direction or the other. There are up to six video streams that can be seen by Webex Meetings participants, such as users connected through Webex Cisco Webex, Webex Room and Desk Equipment, Skype for Business, and other SIP or H.323-enabled devices connected to Webex Video Platform. Webex Meetings users who use Webex Meetings apps such as the desktop, mobile, and web apps cannot see more than six participants on Webex Video Platform. There is also the same limitation that applies to all participants that are connected through Webex Video Mesh nodes with devices or apps that are connected directly to the Webex cloud or other Webex Video Mesh nodes that have their own Webex Video Mesh nodes.
On-premises-registered video device roster
There is a limitation on the number of participants that can be displayed on the roster of an on-premises registered video device. Thus, it is possible the Webex Meetings desktop application may not show the same number of participants as it does in the roster of the meeting.
Webex video platform version 1 known issues
Call My Video System
If attendees are required to press ‘1’, then the option to Call My Video System may fail out if neither the RMS nor the Traversal License has been installed on the Customer Expressway-C and Expressway-E pairs for the Customer Expressway-C and Expressway-E pair.
Video systems unable to join Webex Events (classic) on FedRAMP
Due to the fact that the FedRAMP platform at this time is running Video Platform 1 at this time, video systems are unable to join Events (classic) on the FedRAMP platform.
Display names
A Webex meeting video window does not display the names of the users associated with the video conferencing system. A future update will address this issue in a more detailed manner.
Leaving and reentering a Personal Room
It is possible that hosts may hear an audio prompt informing them that the meeting they are in is invalid if they leave their Personal Room and then reenter it within a few seconds after terminating the meeting in the Webex video platform version 1. The host should redial the Personal Room if this happens, but please wait a few seconds before doing so.
12-hour limit
An appointment that has been scheduled on the Webex version 1 video platform cannot exceed 12 hours in length. A meeting can be reopened by the host or the participant, or a new meeting can be scheduled by the host or the participant.
Truncated display names on video systems
The video resolution of a user’s video system may need to be reduced if there is a degradation in the user’s network bandwidth, so that it is more compatible with the current network conditions. Those who are participating in active presence views on video endpoints may run the risk of their display names being cut off in that scenario. In order to display the name of the participant, there is a limited number of pixels available in the video stream because of the lower resolution video.
In-meeting video experience
Webex Meetings apps are now defaulting to a filmstrip layout in WBS33, this means that participants have to be able to send thumbnail-quality video streams within their Webex Meetings apps. There is currently no way for Video Platform users to have their video displayed in the filmstrip in Webex Meetings because Video Platform Version 1 supports only sending the active speaker video to Webex Meetings.
Video streams from video systems can only be viewed by iOS meeting participants in 1 2 portrait mode and not in landscape mode.
Video systems joining without encryption
The meeting cannot be considered fully secured if attendees join a meeting via video systems that use encrypted signaling or encrypted media links and do not configure encrypted signaling links or use encrypted media links, since other devices cannot be completely secured, such as the internet connection.
Call leg security
In some video systems that utilize Telepresence Interoperability Protocol (TIP) security attributes or Call-Info security attributes, the encrypted meeting status icon is not reliable in indicating whether the meeting is encrypted or not. It is still possible for this icon to indicate that a meeting is unencrypted even if all call legs have been encrypted.
Support for Microsoft Lync or Microsoft Skype for Business applications
-
In order to enable the use of Lync and Skype for Business clients, content shared during Webex video platform version 1 meetings is transcoded into the main video channel
-
As of today, Lync 2011 for Mac OS does not support clients that use the RTV video codec.
-
Polycom video devices are not supported by Lync and Skype for Business servers for users registered to those servers.
-
A user must select Video in the application and then select Start Video on the application before starting a meeting to ensure 2-way video is enabled during the meeting.
-
The user may have to select the Start Video option a second time after joining the meeting.
Join meetings by dialing an IP address
I suggest that you refer to the IP dialing section of the compatibility document in order to see the latest results of the interoperability compatibility test. https://collaborationhelp.cisco.com/article/ipxxr2
Known issues for using Webex Meetings video platform version 1 with Webex
-
Cisco Webex and Mozilla Firefox
In Cisco Webex, when Webex users share their screen in Mozilla Firefox, instead of seeing the shared content, they see a black screen. In Firefox, users of Webex can view the content that Webex users share when they share their screen.
-
Video call-back to IP Phone 8800 Series video phones registered to the Webex Calling service
This occurs when you attempt to initiate a video call-back from the meeting to a Cisco IP Phone 8800 Series video phone registered to the Webex Calling service. At this site, the DTMF key 1 must be entered in order to make connections, so you are unable to connect to the meeting. In order to work around this issue, it is necessary to disable the requirement that meetings must be connected by entering DTMF key 1 on the device.
-
Sending video from Webex applications to video conferencing systems or applications
There is always a better resolution available between your video system and the Webex Meetings application when a Webex Meetings video is started. There is no restriction as to which participants are able to view high-definition video. A user experiencing poor network conditions while participating in a Webex Meetings session will have their resolution downgraded between video systems and the Webex Meetings application in order to accommodate that participant. Therefore, all other participants will also be unable to view the video properly as a result of this. In order to be able to receive video as well as application or screen sharing content (formally called “desktop sharing”) from the Webex Cloud, a Webex Meetings application must process at least 1.2 Mbps from the Webex Cloud. The Webex Meetings application will appear only if you provide a minimum of that number of people in your meeting.
Please refer to the Cisco Webex Network Bandwidth Technical Paper for information about the recommended bandwidth configuration settings for Cisco Webex video platform version 1 meetings.
-
Presentation and data sharing quality
Depending on the bandwidth you have available, videos and presentations in Webex Meetings may degrade to XGA (1024 x 768 resolution) or 5 frames per second (FPS) if you do not have adequate bandwidth to handle that.
The content can be shared in 720p resolution up to 5 frames per second, as long as all Webex Meeting applications have at least 2Mbps bandwidth.
There is a 1080p at 3 frames per second quality for content sharing via Webex Meetings applications if the bandwidth is at least 3-Mbps.
-
Full-screen video view
Shared screens, applications, or documents cannot be shared simultaneously from the presenter’s side and the attendee’s side when the presenter switches to full-screen video view (this causes the screen last shared to freeze). A presentation’s sharing resumes automatically when the presenter exits full-screen video mode.
When the presenter stops sharing, attendees are in full-screen video view, and when the presenter resumes sharing, they are automatically exited.
The Webex Meetings desktop application can be run with two monitors. If the video window is dragged to the other monitor and the “View all participants in full-screen view” icon is selected, users will be able to display full-screen or application sharing on the other monitor.
-
Presenter may unintentionally disable video for all participants
There is a scenario where the presenter of a Webex Meetings session unchecks the Video option in the Meeting Options dialog box so that video is disabled for all the participants of that meeting, regardless of whether they joined over a Webex Meetings application or via a videoconferencing system. In the Meeting Options dialog box, the host of the meeting or the current presenter should check the Video option in order to restore video for all participants in the meeting.
-
Other teleconference audio
For the Webex Meetings video conference meeting, you will not be able to use the audio connection option Other teleconference audio.
-
Webex Meeting features
It is important to keep in mind that the following features cannot be used in-meeting if the meeting includes video systems:
-
Whiteboard
-
Document sharing
-
Polling
-
File Transfer
-
Check the Webex Meetings Video Compatibility and Support page for a complete list of compatible video systems and applications.
