Live streaming meetings/webinars on YouTube in zoom App
You can stream live Zoom Meetings and Zoom Webinars on YouTube via Zoom Meetings and Zoom Webinars. By using Zoom, you will be able to invite people from anywhere around the world to view and comment on your video using YouTube. The live stream from Zoom Meetings and Zoom Webinars and the live stream of the actual meeting will have an approximate 20-second delay during the event.
Note:
The viewers on YouTube will only be able to comment on the video through YouTube and will not be able to interact directly with other webinar attendees. Similarly, the attendees of the webinar won’t be allowed to comment directly on the video.
Prerequisites for live streaming meetings or webinars on YouTube
Streaming for Zoom Meeting
- Pro, Business, Education, or Enterprise account
- The host is Licensed
- Zoom desktop client:
- Windows: version 4.4.53582 or higher
- macOS: version 4.4.53582 or higher
- Zoom mobile client
- Android: version 5.4.0 or higher
- iOS: version 5.4.0 or higher
- Live streaming is enabled on YouTube
Streaming for Zoom Webinar
- Pro, Business, Education, or Enterprise account
- The host is assigned a Zoom Webinar license
- Zoom desktop client:
- Windows: version 4.0 or higher
- macOS: version 4.0 or higher
- Zoom mobile client
- Android: version 5.4.0 or higher
- iOS: version 5.4.0 or higher
- Live streaming enabled on YouTube
How to enable or disable YouTube live streaming for meetings
Account
All users in the account should be able to livestream meetings on YouTube:
- You must be an admin with the privilege of editing account settings to access the Zoom web portal.
- Select Account Management from the navigation menu.
- Then click the Meetings tab.
- Click the toggle next to Allow livestreaming of meetings so that it will be enabled in the In Meeting (Advanced) section.
- You will be presented with a dialog box asking you to verify your action. Click Yes to confirm it.
- Select YouTube from the list.
- Save it.
- Click the lock icon, then click Lock to confirm this setting if you want it to be mandatory for all users in your account.
Group
Note:
You may notice that the Group Management page has been renamed to Groups. This is if you have created a Zoom account after August 21, 2021, or if you are using the New Admin Experience on your account.
For a group of users to be able to livestream meetings on YouTube:
- As an administrator, log in to the Zoom web portal to edit groups.
- Select User Management then click Group Management in the navigation menu.
- Choose the appropriate group.
- Select Meetings.
- To enable livestreaming of meetings, click the Allow livestreaming of meetings toggle under In Meeting (Advanced).
- Verify the changes by selecting Enable verify the changes.
Note: - There is a possibility that the account level option has been locked, in which case it needs to be changed at the account level.
- Click the YouTube checkbox to turn on the settings.
- Save the changes.
- If you want this setting to be mandatory for everyone in this organization, you will need to click on the lock icon. Then click Lock to confirm your selection.
User
Using YouTube to livestream meetings:
- Log in to the Zoom website.
- Navigate to the Settings tab.
- Select the Meetings option.
- To enable livestreaming of meetings, click Allow livestreaming of meetings under In Meeting (Advanced).
- You may be asked to verify the change. Click Enable to verify.
- Select YouTube from the list.
- Save your changes.
Note: - You will need to contact your Zoom administrator if the option is grayed out, as it has been locked either at the group or account level.
How to enable YouTube live streaming for webinars
Account
Allow all users in the account to livestream webinars on YouTube:
- Log in as an administrator to the Zoom web portal.
- Select Account Management and then Account Settings from the navigation menu.
- Click Meetings.
- To enable livestreaming of webinars, turn on the Allow livestreaming of webinars toggle under In Meeting (Advanced).
- Click Enable to verify the change if a verification dialog appears.
- Be sure YouTube is checked.
- Hit Save.
- You can make this setting mandatory for all users in your account by selecting the lock icon. If you want to make it mandatory for every user in your account then you need to select Lock to confirm the setting.
Group
Note:
After September 21, 2021, if you are a new Zoom user, or if you have enabled the new Zoom Admin Experience on your account, you will see that the Group Management page has been renamed to Groups.
Allow a group of users to livestream webinars on YouTube by enabling the following:
- If you are an administrator of a Zoom group and are able to edit groups on the Zoom website, log in.
- Select User Management from the navigation menu, and then group management from the drop down menu.
- From the list of groups, select the appropriate group.
- Then click the Meeting tab.
- Click the toggle next to Allow live streaming of webinars under In Meeting (Advanced) to allow the feature to be turned on.
- Should a verification dialog box appear, click Enable to enable the feature.
Note: - In the case of a greyed out option, it has been locked at the account level, and therefore needs to be changed at that level as well.
- Select YouTube from the list and then click OK.
- Click Save.
- Click the lock icon, and then click Lock to confirm the setting if you wish to make this setting mandatory for all users within the group.
User
You can use YouTube to livestream webinars for your own use by enabling the following setting:
- Sign in to Zoom’s web portal through the navigation menu.
- Select Meetings from the list.
- To enable livestreaming, click Allow livestreaming of webinars under In Meeting (Advanced).
- Verify your changes by clicking Enable verify the change.
- Make sure YouTube is selected.
- Save your changes.
Note: - There is a chance that the option you are looking for is grayed out due to being a locked option at either the group level or the account level. You will need to contact your Zoom administrator to make any modifications.
How to start a live stream on YouTube?
Windows | macOS
Live stream a meeting or webinar from your desktop
- Be the host of the meeting or webinar.
- Click More at the bottom of the meeting or webinar control.
- Click YouTube Live.
- If you have multiple YouTube channels, choose one of them to stream to.
A new page will appear:
- Broadcast your live broadcast to YouTube by specifying the following settings:
- YouTube title for Zoom meetings/webinars
The Zoom meeting or webinar topic will automatically appear on the YouTube video. The topic can be changed in the text box in the YouTube video. - Privacy
Settings can be changed to Private, Public or Unlisted.
- YouTube title for Zoom meetings/webinars
- By clicking “Login” you will be taken to the login page. You will see a progress bar letting you know that your session is being prepared for streaming.
- Start your meeting or webinar after the Zoom client notifies you that it is live on YouTube.
You can stop streaming by ending the meeting or webinar, or by clicking More then Stop Live Stream in the web control panel.
Live stream a meeting or webinar to a YouTube Event
- Your meeting or webinar can be streamed in Custom Live Streaming.
- Just schedule it.
- Click the Configure Live Streaming Settings link in the Live Streaming section at the bottom of the page after scrolling down.
- Sign in to your YouTube account in a new browser tab.
- Tap the Go Live option under Create a Video.
- In the Later Date section, choose Start if you would like to begin streaming right now or later.
- In the Streaming software section, select Go when prompted.
- On the right side of the page, tap on the SCHEDULE STREAM option.
- A previous event can be selected and settings from that session can be reused. Alternatively, choose Create New.
- Input the necessary information, for example the title, privacy settings, description, category, date/time, whether or not it is intended for children, and any age restrictions.
- After clicking Create Stream, the information will be sent.
- Please copy the URL and Stream Key from the Stream Settings section and paste them into the Stream URLs and Stream Keys in Zoom.
- You can access the link by clicking the share button. Once you have copied the link, you will need to paste it into the URL on Zoom’s Live Streaming page.
- To save the changes, you will need to click on Save.
- The host of the meeting or webinar should start the Zoom meeting or webinar when ready.
- You can do so by choosing More.
- From the Custom Live Streaming menu, click Live.
- Once the live stream has been started by Zoom, click on the Go Live button in the YouTube broadcast event.
Android | iOS
Live stream a meeting or webinar from your mobile device
- As the host, you should begin the webinar or meeting.
- Go to Meeting or Webinar Controls and tap More.
- Select YouTube from the drop-down menu.
After you have selected YouTube, your browser will launch and you will be asked to log in. - Streaming can be done to more than one YouTube channel if you have more than one.
- On the Broadcasting to YouTube Live page, you will be able to specify the following settings after successfully authenticating:
- Name of YouTube video for Zoom Meeting
Topic will automatically be filled in. Please adjust this. - Privacy
Settings include Public, Unlisted, and Private.
- Name of YouTube video for Zoom Meeting
- Click the Go Live! Button.
You will now see a progress bar as your session is prepared for streaming. You will then see the video stream. - Continue the webinar or meeting in the Zoom app.
- The streaming of the webinar or meeting will stop when you end it or you can click the LIVE notification in the top-left corner of the meeting or webinar window, tap STOP LIVE STATION, and then confirm by clicking STOP LIVE STATION again.
