Managing advanced screen sharing settings in zoom app
The Zoom desktop client includes advanced screen sharing options that provide more control of the shared content and troubleshooting support.
Note: These features are intended for advanced technical users. Toggling these options without knowledge of a device’s hardware and software configuration can result in a sub-standard user experience. If you are looking for more basic screen sharing settings, learn more about changing settings in the desktop client or mobile app.

-
Then click the Advanced button.
-
It is possible (depending on your operating system) to select one of the following options:
-
Limit your screen share to ___ frames-per-second (Windows, macOS, Linux): You can limit the number of frames per second that are displayed in your screen-share feed. If you do not qualify for a screen sharing account because you do not have the bandwidth, you can enable this feature.
-
Show green border around the shared content (Windows, macOS, Linux): Screen sharing a desktop/monitor is made easier with the addition of a green border around the edge of the screen to let you know which screen is being shared.
-
Share selected app window only (macOS)
-
Use TCP connection for screen sharing (Windows, macOS, Linux): If you are having trouble viewing content on your shared screen, or if others are having difficulty seeing what you are showing on your shared screen, enable this option.
-
Use hardware acceleration to optimize video sharing (MacOS): In order to conserve CPU usage when sharing a screen with someone else, the decoder is used in the video card.
-
Screen capture mode: There are a number of different options that we can select from when it comes to capturing the computer screen for screen sharing. In the event that you change this setting, some content, such as drop-down menus and modals, may not be shared, resulting in an error.
-
Auto (default): Whenever you choose Zoom for screen sharing, it automatically chooses the most appropriate method.
-
Capture with window filtering: This method will share your screen without showing windows from the Zoom desktop client.
-
Advanced capture with window filtering: The Zoom desktop client will not show windows in this mode since it will share your screen and includes motion detection (when you move windows or play a movie) when you share your screen this way.
-
Advanced capture without window filtering: In this method, you will be able to share your screen over the Zoom desktop client, including motion detection (so that you will see the windows as you move them or play a movie), and you can share your screen via Skype.
-
Legacy/Previous operating systems: It is possible that this option will not be available for you if you do not have the latest version of Windows or macOS, or if you do not have the latest video drivers. When this option is not turned on, participants’ screens may be blank for the duration of the host’s presentation if this option has not been enabled.
Note: The screen capture mode will override any settings that are enabled for Show Zoom windows during screen sharing if Show Zoom windows is enabled. -
Secure share with window filtering (Windows): The only content that is shared when the option is selected is that which is in the window. As a result, any content that may appear in the background during transitions, such as when moving windows around, minimizing, or maximising a window, will never be accessible to anyone.

-
Enable hardware acceleration for (Windows):
-
Screen sharing: In the event that participants report difficulties viewing your shared screen, you should disable this option.
-
Annotations on a shared screen or whiteboard: if your shared screen is not allowing you to add annotations, you will need to disable this option.
-
Use hardware acceleration to optimize video sharing: In order to conserve CPU usage on screen sharing, this feature uses the hardware decoder on the video card.
