Managing the main company number and caller ID in zoom App
During initial setup, the main company number can be viewed or changed by the account owner or admin. By dialing the main company number and the user’s extension, your phone users can be reached by external callers. It can also be used as a caller ID on phones.
Note: Auto receptionists are assigned the main company number. The receptionist will be able to answer any questions you might have by simply dialing the main number of the company. In the event you are operating multiple locations, your main company number will be assigned to the main receptionist at your main location.

How to change your company number
As part of the initial setup, you choose the main company number. View or change it by following the steps below.
- Access Zoom’s web portal by logging in.
- Choose Phone Numbers from the navigation menu.
- Then, choose Assigned from the left-hand menu.
In the upper right-hand corner, you can see the main company number. - In order to edit the main company number, you need to click the drop-down menu. Here are the options:
- Click the auto-reception number to choose from a list of numbers. When a new number is added, the previous main company number will remain associated with the new number.
- To select an un-assigned number from the list of un-assigned numbers, click Select an un-assigned number and then click Confirm. If you are thinking about purchasing a phone number, you may click Get Numbers. There are several choices you can make:
- Replace & Keep:
- If you choose a different number for the main company number, then you keep the previous main company number. This means that you should maintain the number previously associated with the main company.
Note: - In order for you to see this option, you must have an available license for phone numbers.
- Replace & Delete:
- Delete the previous main company number and replace it with the newly selected number, then replace the previously selected number with the new number. The license for the phone number remains the same.
How to re-assign a phone number to the main company number
In order to assign a direct number to the main company number and main auto receptionist, go through these steps if the number is assigned to a phone user, call queue, common area phone, or Zoom Room.
Note:
Furthermore, your number can be reassigned to another phone user, call queue, common area phone, auto receptionist, or Zoom Room.
- Log in to the Zoom website.
- Choose Phone Numbers from the navigation menu.
- The main company number will appear in the drop-down menu.
- To unbind a user via the phone, call queue, room, or auto-receptionist, click the Unbind button that is next to Assigned To.
- Confirm by clicking Yes. The number will appear in the list of numbers that are yet to be allocated.
- Go to the Assigned tab and you will find the number.
At the top of the screen, you can see the main company number. - Select an unassigned number from the drop-down menu, then click the Select an unassigned number button.
- Click on the Unassigned Numbers button and choose a number from the list and confirm it. Among the options that are available to you are:
- Replace & Keep:
- Keeping the previous company number as the main company number, replace the selected number with it. The previous company number can be assigned to the selected number.
Note: - To see this option, you need to have a phone number license.
- Replace & Delete:
- Put the selected number in place of the current company number and delete the old one. Continue to use the same license number.
How to change the main company or site caller ID name
All outbound calls made by the organization display the caller ID name. Changing caller IDs across multiple sites is necessary if you have multiple sites. Individual caller IDs cannot be changed.
Note:
- You can only see your caller ID on US and Canadian numbers.
- Because of the process of determining your outbound caller ID name, the recipient will not immediately see the new caller ID. This process can take up to 3 weeks for external providers to update the new caller ID name.
- If your organization has multiple sites, you can only use one main company phone number. The main company number will display the caller ID name of the main site.
- Register for a Zoom account.
- Then select Phone System Management from the navigation menu and then select Company Info.
- Then click Account Settings.
- If you have multiple sites, you will need to follow one of these steps:
- For instance, if you enabled more than one site, you can go to the Settings tab of each site you would like to edit.
- Click Account Settings if you disabled more than one site.
- Change the current caller ID name by clicking on Change next to it in the Caller ID Name section.
- Click Save to save the new caller ID name.
Note: - There are some restrictions on caller ID names.
- 15 characters are the maximum.
- No matter how you specify it in Zoom Phone, all uppercase letters appear
- As lowercase letters.
