Migration of Webex Sites from the UK Data Center to the European Union Data Center
The migration of Webex sites from the data center in the United Kingdom to the data center in the European Union.
The effects of the recently opened Cisco Webex Data Center in the European Union.
Beginning in July 2021, the migration of Webex sites from the data center serving the United Kingdom (UK) to the data center serving the European Union (EU) is scheduled to take place. The new EU Webex data center will be located in Frankfurt, Germany. The relevant communication regarding the migration was sent to email addresses that are linked with full administrator accounts for the Webex organizations that were impacted. During the course of the migration, the email communication will continue as usual.
Because it is timed to occur within maintenance times for the Webex site, the migration will not result in any significant service interruptions. During the maintenance window for your Webex site, you can experience the following issues:
- When trying to host or attend meetings, hosts and participants may experience periods of time when the service is unavailable; if this happens, rejoin the meeting.
- Users who have planned meetings to take place during this maintenance window may experience a disruption in their connection. It will be necessary for the host to restart the meeting.
- After the move, the information pertaining to the meetings that concluded thirteen months ago will no longer be accessible. The impact will be seen for meetings that were scheduled but never completed more than 13 months before the migration time. This includes both one-time meetings and meeting series.
Following the migration, the following effects, in addition to others, are expected to be observed:
- After the maintenance, it is possible that historical reporting for the Event Center and the Support Center may no longer be available; however, new reports will be generated as expected. Please examine and preserve any essential data before the migration. The list of affected Event Center reports and Support Center reports can be found below.
- Log in to My WebEx, navigate to My Reports, click on Event Center, and then select Registration Report.
- Access the Attendance Report by navigating to My WebEx > My Reports > Event Center.
- In-Event Activity Report may be found by navigating to My WebEx > My Reports > Event Center.
- To view a recording of an event, navigate to My WebEx > My Reports > Event Center > Event Recording Report.
- Log in to My WebEx and navigate to the Attendee History Report under the “Event Center” tab.
- CSR Activity can be found by go to My WebEx > My Reports > Support Center.
- Please take note that it is still possible to receive the historical reports by submitting a Service Request with Cisco support.
Following the move, the information on Recent Personal Rooms will no longer be accessible either on the Webex website or within the Cisco Webex Meeting Desktop Application. After the move of the Webex site to the data center in Europe, this information will be updated with the most recent statistics, which will be based on usage. After the migration, it will no longer be possible to retrieve the information from Recent Personal Rooms. Take a look at the screenshot down below:
Following the relocation of the Webex site, the Webex Edge Audio service will continue to function normally. After the migration is complete, the LUA script will need to be rebuilt and then imported into CUCM. This will ensure that the most efficient media path is selected.
Due to the possibility that modifications to SIP Trunks will have an impact on the Webex Edge Audio service, the following tasks need to be completed during the maintenance window:
- Navigate to the Control Hub’s Meeting page, then choose the migrated Webex site, click the Configure Site button, and then select Audio Settings.
- To generate a Lua script, choose the ‘Edge Audio Customer Global Call-in Numbers’ section and click the button.
- After the new window has been brought up, the script should be exported in the *.lua format.
- To create a SIP normalization script from the Webex LUA script, navigate to the document and follow steps 1-7 in the section titled “Create SIP Normalization Script from the Webex LUA Script.”
- Go to the Cisco Unified CM Administration and pick the SIP trunk that was built for Webex Edge Audio. This may be done by going to Device > Trunk.
Replace the Normalization Script with the one you crafted in step 3 of the process. - You should save the SIP Trunk and then reset it.
- Please refer to the Cisco Webex Edge Audio Customer Configuration Guide for any additional information regarding the deployment of Webex Edge Audio.
The IP address ranges that are already in place and necessary for Webex services will not be altered in any way as a result of the deployment of the new data center in Frankfurt, Germany. Please refer to the Network Requirements for Webex Services article for any more information.
Note that even if the site is transferred from one cluster to another, the Site ID and Partner ID will not be updated to reflect the new location.
