New Webex Data Center for North American Region
A new data center has been introduced in the North American region so that Webex’s content workloads can be handled by new organizations in order to meet the scale needs associated with COVID-19-related usage. This data center is designed to handle content workloads for those organizations.
In the event that a new organization in a country within the North American region is created after May 5, 2020, they will be subject to the following limitations:
-
Users who are claimed by an organization are immediately added to the organization once they are claimed by the organization. It is not possible to submit a delayed claim.
-
If an organization was established before May 5, 2020, it cannot be merged with an organization created before that date.
A new customer organization’s organization data (organization identity, users’ personal identities, content generated by the users, and encryption keys) are stored in a particular region (the Country Selector) when it is provisioned as a subscription or trial in Cisco Webex Control Hub. Check to see which region (Europe or North America) a particular country belongs to by following these steps.
The change does not affect customers who already have an organization on webex.com, and also doesn’t affect customers who are adding a new organization to webex.com through the online offers, or who have mapped a new organization to the European region.
Among the changes, this is true for Cisco Webex direct organizations as well as partner-led organizations. This limitation will be mitigated in the near future.
See the Data Residency tab in Webex for more information on regions.
