Nomadic emergency services process in zoom App
Overview
Using bootstrap mode and personal locations, you can enable nomadic emergency services.
Note:
Specific setup instructions can be found in the article on nomadic emergency services.
Process
- It is the desktop client that will prompt the phone user to enable location permissions for the first time that a phone user signs into the desktop client, after you enable nomadic emergency services with bootstrap mode and personal locations.
- Zoom Phone will prompt the user when it detects a change in the user’s network address (IP address or MAC address) that they have not previously reported, and then ask the user to confirm or update their emergency address:
- Desktop client:
- Phone users will see the prompt in the desktop client directly if the network change is related to the desktop client.
- Desk phone:
- Desk phone users will receive an email notification that directs them to their phone settings on the web portal if the network change is related to a desk phone.
- Zoom Phone will attempt to identify a company or personal location based on the phone user’s network information.
- Detectable location:
- The prompt will allow the user to confirm or update the emergency address if the network data is associated with an existing location. Upon confirming the address, the phone user will be redirected to the web portal so that they can choose a location. Associated with that location will be the address.
- Undetectable location:
- The prompt will ask the phone user to add an emergency address if the network data is not associated with an existing location.
- Users will have the following options:
- Add an existing location to the network
- As a company location Add an emergency address
- To be used in an emergency
- Personalize the address
- If the user of the phone chooses either of the first two options, you (and any other recipients who have been specified) will receive an email notification asking you to review and approve pending data for the company locations. Please sign in to the Zoom web portal to view and update the location data of your company. As soon as the location is approved, it will automatically be added as a company location.
