Open a Cisco Webex Space on Desk Devices
From a Webex desk device, you are able to collaborate with people in a Webex space and interact with them. When paired with the Webex app, you are able to start a call as well as share whiteboards with the whole space by starting a call.
Using your Webex desk device, you can extend the Webex app to the physical world. Using the Webex App on your device, you are able to create and share whiteboards with the people that are currently in the Webex space. You can also call the people that are in the Webex space.
As of the writing of this article, you able to use Desk Pro as a personal or shared application, as well as DX 70 and DX 80 in a shared application.
Open a Space from a Laptop
- You can see the device’s name at the bottom of your space list when you are connected to a desk device using the Mac or Windows Webex application. It is possible to pair the device to another device by selecting one of the devices you have previously connected to or by searching for another one by its name in the list of devices.
- If you wish to open a Webex space on your device, you will need to select the space you wish to open and click Open a Space. Located in the top left corner of the device’s screen, you can find the name of the space that has been opened up.
- In the Webex app, you can close a space by selecting the Close Space option. The space can also be closed from the device by swiping down on the name of the space and selecting Close this space from the menu.
Open a Space from a Mobile Device
- Your Webex app will display the name of the device you are connected to in the upper right corner of your room list when the device is connected to your Webex app. When you are ready to pair with a new device, select one of the other devices you have previously paired with or search for the device by name if you are looking for another device.
- You can open a Webex space on your device by selecting it on your device’s home screen and tapping the Open a space button. You can also click on Open in the DX or Open in the Desk Pro activity menus of the space to open it. An open space’s name can be found in the top left corner of the device’s screen.
- In the Webex app, you can close a space by selecting the Close Space option. If you wish to close the space from your device, you can tap the space’s name to access the options of Closing this space and selection Close this space.
Whiteboarding
On a computer with a Webex workspace open, you will be able to create new whiteboards that will automatically be saved to the space as .png files when you click on the Whiteboard tab on a Webex desktop device. Also, if you already have whiteboards saved on that space, you will be able to continue to work on them.
If you have a whiteboard open on your device you are able to access saved whiteboards by tapping Whiteboard once a space has been opened. It is also possible to add a new whiteboard to the existing whiteboard by tapping the New whiteboard button in the whiteboard screen.
When you are done, you should tap on the cross located in the upper right corner of the window. In the Whiteboard tab of the Webex space, everyone in the space will be able to find your whiteboard.
View a File (Desk Pro only)
When you have a Webex space open on the Desk Pro, you will be able to view the files and pictures that you have shared with your colleagues in that space. To do this, you need to tap on the Files button and choose the file that you wish to open. The file you are sharing can be scrolled up and down by scrolling up or down. By pinching the image on the screen, you will be able to zoom in and out.
Files can be opened in a number of formats, including: .doc, .docx, .gif, .jpg, .pdf, .png, .ppt, .pptx, .svg, .XLS and .XLSX. There must be fewer than 150 pages in the files and the total file size must not exceed 200MB. There are other types of files that can be uploaded to the site, but there will be no thumbnail preview for those files.
It is possible to tap on the unsupported files and choose whether or not you wish to hide them.
When you want to return to the file overview, you can tap the button.
Whenever you have a space open on the Desk Pro, you can view the files that you have shared in that space from Microsoft OneDrive or SharePoint Online, as long as you have that space open on it. A Web Engine must be enabled on the Desk Pro before these files can be opened on the Desk Pro.
In the Files section, you can find documents that you have stored on OneDrive or SharePoint Online. If you wish to open a file, simply select it and click on it. If you wish to view or edit the document, you may need to log in. However, if you close the space, any session information you have is cleared.
Call Everyone in a Space
As soon as you have selected a space on your desk device, you need to tap on its home screen. You can start a call by tapping on the Call button.
