It is critical to familiarize yourself with the guidelines for keeping your phone safe and secure well in advance of any potential emergencies. You will be prepared in the event that there is a power outage, that your network becomes congested, or that there is an issue with the source of the power. You will also acquire knowledge on the safety of the products.
Safety and Performance Information
It is necessary that the phone have electricity in order for you to have access to emergency services through the phone. If there is a disruption in electricity, neither the regular service nor the emergency calling service dialing will work until the power has been restored. In the event that there is a power outage or disruption, you may be required to reset or reconfigure the equipment before you are able to use the service or dial into the emergency calling service.
Regulatory Domains
This phone’s radio frequency, often known as RF, has been optimized for use in a particular regulatory environment. If you use this phone outside of the particular regulatory domain, the phone will not function properly, and you may be in violation of the regulations that are in place in the area.
Health-Care Environments
This item is not intended for use in the medical field, and it operates on an unlicensed frequency band that may experience interference from other pieces of technology or apparatus.
External Devices
We strongly suggest that you make use of external devices that are of a high quality and that have a shield to protect them from undesired radio frequency (RF) and audio frequency (AF) transmissions. Headsets, wires, and connectors are examples of devices that are considered external.
It is possible that there will still be some audio noise, but this will be determined by the quality of these devices as well as their closeness to other devices, such as mobile phones or two-way radios. In situations like this, we strongly suggest that you take one or more of the following actions:
- Remove the external equipment from the vicinity of the radio frequency or radio frequency and alternating current transmissions.
- Keep the wires for the external equipment away from the radio frequency or alternating current source.
- Make sure the cables connecting the external device are protected, or use cables that have a better shield and connector.
- Reduce the total length of the cable connecting the external device.
- Install ferrites or other devices of a similar nature on the cables leading to the external device.
The performance of external devices, cables, and connectors is not something that Cisco is able to guarantee.
Bluetooth Wireless Headset Performance (8800 Series)
We strongly advise that you keep any 802.11b/g devices, Bluetooth devices, microwave ovens, or heavy metal items at least a few feet away from the wireless headset. This will help mitigate any interference issues that may arise.
It is not necessary for the Bluetooth wireless headset to be in the phone’s direct line of sight in order for it to function properly. However, the connection may be disrupted by a number of physical obstacles, such as walls or doors, as well as interference from other electronic equipment.
- Bluetooth capability is absent from the Cisco IP Phone 6821, 6841, and 6851 models.
- Bluetooth connectivity is not supported by the Cisco IP Phones 7811, 7821, 7841, or 7861.
- The Cisco IP Conference Phone 7832 is not compatible with Bluetooth headphones and does not support them.
- The Cisco IP Conference Phone 8832 is not compatible with Bluetooth headphones and does not support them.
Ways to Provide Power to Your Phone
You can supply electricity to your phone using any one of the following methods:
- Make sure you are using the power adaptor that was provided with your phone.
- In the case of desk phones, if the Power over Ethernet (PoE) standard is supported by your network, you will be able to connect your phone directly to the network. Connect a network cable to the Ethernet phone port, and then connect that port to the network.
- For Webex Calling (which was formerly known as Spark Call), conference phones are as follows:You should be able to connect your conference phone to your network if it supports Power over Ethernet (PoE).
Talk to the administrator of your network if you are unsure whether or not it supports Power over Ethernet (PoE).
Phone Behavior During Times of Network Congestion
- Tasks related to administration, such as an internal port scan or a security scan
- Attacks that are launched against your network, such as a Distributed Denial of Service attack
UL Warning
It is not permissible to run the LAN or Ethernet cable, as well as any other cables that are related to the device, outside of the building.

Both a radio transmitter and a radio receiver are included into your gadget.
