Raise your hand in Meeting in Microsoft Teams
It is possible to participate in a meeting without interfering with the conversation if one raises their hand virtually and lets the others know that they wish to participate in the meeting, instead of sitting passively in a meeting room and interfering with what is being discussed by others. There is no need to interrupt the meeting if you do this.
Raise your hand
If you want to raise your hand in the meeting, select Reactions at the top of the screen. When you raise your hand, your hand will appear on the screen for everyone to see in the meeting.
Your hand will also be notified to the meeting presenters that you have raised your hand. A presenter can allow you to unmute yourself during meetings when attendees are not able to do so themselves.
Tip: If you are not comfortable in raising your hand and you wish to do so, you may also use one of the four live reactions that you can view during the meeting as an opportunity to express yourself in a way that is convenient for you by choosing from the four live reactions that you will see during the meeting.
See who has their hand raised
To see a list of everyone in the meeting, select the People in the meeting controls at the top of the screen. There will be an icon next to the name of anyone who has raised their hand. A number of people will be numbered as they raise their hands at the same time to help us show, in order, who raised their hand first if more than one person raises their hand at the same time.
Putting your hand down will allow you to return to Reactions.
Alternatively, you could try lowering everybody’s hand at the same time if you are the presenter or organizer of the meeting:
- Choose People from the list.
- You can find the More option next to the Participants option.
- Make sure that all hands are lower.
