Record screen activity using the Webex Recorder
Utilizing the Webex Recorder for Windows will allow you to capture all screen activity occurring within any application running on your computer. You can record voiceover commentary and multimedia audio by connecting a microphone to your computer and using an additional adapter. Multimedia audio can also be recorded. To listen back recordings, you should use the Webex Player. To modify recordings, you can make use of the Webex Recording Editor for Windows.
Overview of the Webex Recorder
- Make a recording of everything that happens on your screen while using any program on your computer by using the Webex Recorder.
You can capture:
- Through the use of an additional adapter, multimedia music.
- You can give the presentation a voice over by attaching a microphone to your computer.
The recording is capable of capturing video from any individual who is transmitting their web cam video; however, the recording only displays the main video panel that was active during the session. If the host does not lock the video window on a particular participant, it will automatically transition to the video of the person who is currently speaking.
To listen back recordings, you should use the Webex Player. For editing recordings, you can use the Webex Recording Editor.
The files that you record will be stored on your computer in a format that is unique to Webex called the Webex Recording Format (.wrf).
Download the Webex Recorder
- Please log in to your Webex account.
- Choose either Webex Training, Webex Events, or Webex Support from the menu that appears in the bottom-left corner of the screen.
- Navigate to the Downloads page by clicking Support.
- After clicking Recorders and Players, select Recording and Playback from the drop-down menu.
- Once you’ve located Webex Recorder, select the Download button next to it, and then proceed with the installation as directed.
Record an application
Choose an option from the following:

- Launch the Webex Recorder from the desktop it’s saved on.
- Click All Programs > Webex > Webex Recorder & Player > Webex Recorder
- Choose Open Application from the File menu.
- Carry out any one of the following actions:
- After choosing an application from the list, press the Select button.
- Click the Other Application button, pick an application from the drop-down menu, and then click the Share button.
- After deciding which program to use from the available options, click the Select button.
After selecting an application from the selection that appears after clicking the Other Application button, selecting the Share button is the final step.
Hide the recorder panel during recording
- Choose Settings > Webex Recording Settings from the drop-down menu within the Webex Recorder.
- Select the check option that says “Hide the Recorder panel during recording,” and then click the “OK” button.
Play a recording.
You can view any recording in.wrf format that was created with the Webex Recorder by using the Webex Player.
- Choose an option from the following:
- Launch Webex Player by double-clicking its icon on your desktop.
- Click All Programs > Webex > Webex Recorder & Player > Webex Player
- Select File > Open.
- Navigate to the.wrf recording that you wish to listen, then select Open from the drop-down menu.
- To manipulate play back, use the buttons located on the Webex Player’s interface:
Hide the player panel during playback
- It is necessary to ensure that a file is accessible in the Webex Player.
- Go to Controls > Settings on your device.
Only when you have a file currently open will you have access to the Settings choice. - Select the check option to “Hide the Player Console during playback,” and then click the “OK” button.
